Comments by "Mat Broomfield" (@matbroomfield) on "The REAL Legal Story Behind Alec Baldwin Shooting" video.
Because it was a close up down the barrel.

I'm sorry, but if you can't discuss it now when it's current, when IS it appropriate? It's not like Baldwin is reading youtube comments. It's a tragic BUT PREVENTABLE accident. If he fired his staff because they were concerned about safety, then someone died because of a lack of safety, that's 100% on him, and he deserves to go to prison for it.

@ladydeerheart1 Don't be ridiculous. Demanding accountability is the very essence of a just society. You are simply flapping your hanky over his choice of words, then saying exactly the same thing!

Why on earth would they need that for a blank firing weapon?
2
@07Flash11MRC I bet more people die in plane crashes proportionally to the number of users, than die from prop misfires, but I don't expect a member of the SEALS to brief me on crash procedures every flight. A safety officer or armourer on set should suffice.
2
@07Flash11MRC Absolutely missing the point. There are many safety procedures given to passengers: how to sit, how to do up their seatbelts, how to disembark, how to put on life jackets, how to use air masks.
2
@07Flash11MRC No, and nor will a military officer when a gun malfunctions. The irony of people suggesting that the military with the worst reputation on the planet for killing allies and innocent civilians, should be teaching ANYONE about gun safety is truly hilarious.

@Hun_Uinaq In another video on the subject, a movie expert pointed out taht it's actually cheaper to simulate gunfire than to use real guns. I find that hard to believe, but if true, it really should be the end for this kind of incident. But then I think that about accidental gun deaths all the time, and little changes.
2
@LoveyK That's exceedingly unlikely.

@07Flash11MRC We'll see...

The prop person is not liable for a misfiring blank.
1
Would make no difference. If it was not a live round but a misfired blank that killed her, sooner or later, the blank will have to be fired.
1
Blanks still have a casing. Apparently bits of the casing can occasionally break off and get fired. Alternately, the gunpowder can fail to ignite at all.
1
@annekai And we don't even know that it WAS live ammunition. Why on earth would they keep live ammo on set and risk such a mix up?
1
@Hun_Uinaq Gun safety 101 if you're used to being around guns. Maybe not so obvious if you're used to trusting the props department to do their jobs. And given that this may have been a malfunctioning blank, all the checking in the world would not have helped.
1
@annekai Yes Anne, I get where you're coming from.

There weren't real bullets.
