Confused, I thought they'd already been found guilty. Why are they now being tried again Federally? I thought double jeopardy meant they could not be tried twice for the same crime? Also, how can a deal be offered without the judge's approval in the first place? Surely the fact that they have agreed to a plea deal is an admission of guilty regardless. That seems massively prejudicial to their ability to now fight the case with a jury trial? Also, whilst I would gladly execute these men, the fact that state prison is more dangerous seems to be antithetical to the cruel and unusual punishment clause of sentencing. Restriction of freedom is supposed to be the punishment, not daily fear for your physical safety.

@aaronwebb7090 Thank you for that elaboration Aaron. That being the case, it seems GROSSLY unfair to reveal that such a deal was even sought.

@Swnsasy Thank you. Seems kind of vindictive to charge one part of the same incident federally, and another on a state level. I suppose it prevents the president or state governor pardoning them entirely. What a sad state.

@caipirinha_king1632 I couldn't agree more. But that wasn't really my point. Just because we are all united in despising this crime, next time it might be someone we care about having their defence undermined by revealing that they already agreed to plead guilty.
