Why are people keeping such rare animals as pets in the first place, and if they ARE so valuable, why was it so poorly protected?

@glen7228 If you have a priceless sports car that you leave out on the street with the keys in it, then someone steals it, no insurance company on earth would cover your loss. Here, this man has a valuable endangered animal with equally little security, and two vermin try to steal it. Of COURSE they are accountable, but he carries at least a tiny bit of the blame too. That said, incredibly sad for him - seeing him cry as he describes the loss of a treasured companion. I'd happily see the thieves kneecapped.

@wise_potatoe If he's rehabillitatig their numbers, why is this animal still at his property after more than a quarter decade?
