That would have to have been approved so it's disingenuous to say "Fauci funded the research." Also, what do you even mean by "funding and creating the pandemic?" He's an immunologist - his job is to research viruses. You don't get cures without researching them. " seems a bit narrow minded to think that only a crazy trump supporter could do this" It is MASSIVELY more likely that a Trump supporter is a conspiracy theorist, vaccine denier, so no, not narrow minded. But I accept that there is a lesser possibility than he's a non Trump-supporting lunatic.

@doctorjekyll6125 AIDS was NOT manmade. It existed in chimps, and then crossed species in the 1920s. Also, you're correct that science can be misused. The same with cars, modern food, and medicine. But would you seriously prefer to live in a world without science?

I was laughing at your response which attempted to correlate the death threat from an unhinged lunatic, with something as technical as funding gain of function research. He's more likely a deranged, Trump supporting, Faux "News" viewer. As for all the other stuff you discussed, I'm not qualified to assess it, nor to deliberate over its import or the definitions used, and I very much doubt you are either. Maybe Fauci is the saviour of America or maybe he's partly responsible, as director of the U.S. National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases for funding something that got out of control.

@doctorjekyll6125 The story about Covid has not changed. If it originated from bats or pangolins, it reached humans due to these animals being sold IN the wet markets. That's different parts of the same explanation. However, even if they were two totally different stories, so what? Investigators had a particular theory at the beginning, but they followed the evidence, and that evidence possibly led somewhere else. Would you prefer a world where the scientists have to stick with the first guess, even if that proves to be wrong? You say we should stop messing with virus experiments. In 1918, Spanish flu killed between 20 and 50 million people. Virus experiments have been undertaken to create vaccines that would protect us against that. Every year, tens of millions of people take flu vaccines that reduce the chance of such a devastating outbreak again. Cancer is a worthy subject for investigation, and billions is spent each year on that, but research on viruses undoubtedly prevented millions of covid deaths as well. I totally get your sentiment about the misuse of science, especially for weapons, and now possibly biological weapons, but knowledge is not something you can unlearn once you know it. The human race is better because iof science, but it certainly carries risks.
