I thought the point was perfectly clear and there was nothing wrong with it. It enhances the discussion because it reminds a small percentage of people that as casual as some people try to make it, abortion is an act that will remain in your psyche forever, so be sure that you don't do casually or for the wrong reasons.

No. Once pregnant, the woman is the total decision maker about whether to bring a child into the world or not. It's a decision that will likely cost the male $200,000 or more until the child is 18, yet he gets no say in if he wants it terminated. That's not fair, and it's not logical. Simply because she is the one with the ovaries. Even if she pretends to be on the pill, he will still be financially liable. It's disgusting. He could murder someone and receive a lower fine!

I agree. Ignoring the financial ramifications, the potential father may have massive emotional attachment to the potential child, the second its existence is confirmed.

What's fucked up, is that the woman gets to make a decision about KEEPING the child that can ruin the man financially for his whole life and he is the hostage of her choices. They got into that situation together, and they will bear the burden together, so they should make the choice together OR the man should be legally absolved from any financial obligation of support. She goes through 9 months of inconvenience and a few hours of pain, and then he receives an 18 year sentence.

I was using "sir" in the same sense that I would use the term "man" to describe our species. It was actually a (very) lame parody of a Harry Enfield character's catch phrase "Suits you sir". Nevertheless, your massive overreaction and insults to a comment in which I was basically on yur side and supplementing your comment, reveals an oversensitivity that is indeed more commonly associated with estrogen; particularly at a certain time of the month.

Your God sounds vindictive and immature. I'm glad he's just a fantasy.

Temper temper little man. Do you know that more fathers commit suicide during pregnancy than mothers, and both are eclipsed by suicides among gays, bullied teens and ex soldiers. So much for your "heroic mothers" theory. And as you've already pointed out - THEY have exclusive control over whether to remain pregnant. And who shares the expense and psychological burden? The man. Which is why becoming a father is not some trivial thing that the woman should get to decide on her own.

Until a child is born - then you become legally responsible for it again, whether you wanted it or not. And that sir, is total bullshit.

Never been on reddit, but if you think that pointing out that men also pay a massive price in society is somehow wrong, perhaps you should return to freethought blogs with the feminazis. All I want is equality and respect for both genders. Women suffer tremendous inequalities in some areas, and i think that they need addressing, but to hell with swapping one gender prejudice for its polar opposite as we're increasingly doing.

I don't want FULL control - I just want a say. And let's drop this "women are suffering heroes" stuff. When they are exposed to the same stresses and demands in the workplace, the same legal injustice in the family courts, and have to sacrifice themselves in the millions to preserve the freedoms they expect, then I'll consider that they have a bad deal. until that point, each gender has its own burdens. At least they get to choose to have a child.

So an 18 year $200,000 year sentence is reasonable for not wearing a condom? And what about the times when the woman claims to be on birth control, or she's at the safe time of the month, or contraception simply fails? But I totally agree about mental capacity. That couple who let 2 of their kids die because they only prayed when the kids had serious illness - they should both be chemically sterilised.
