  1. This is better news for the rest of the world than for America. A trans Pacific partnership - even one that was anti-free trade, strengthened America's corporate business. Not only does its scuppering make America less competitive, but the propoosed protections on copyrights, etc, would have cost the rest of the world valuable access to affordable alternatives to overprice pharmaceuticals and other products. Given America's existing multimedia and entertainment protectionism across the globe, I see anything that limits its further stranglehold as a positive move.

  2. I agree. Just as the EEC vastly overstepped its mandate, so too was the TPP spreading into areas it had no real business getting into. It was basically protectionism of a most concerning sort.

I'm not sure exactly how much non corporate trade happens internationally, and perhaps there are areas of intersection between corporate trade and that of smaller businesses, but again, I agree with  your general sentiment that we don't want America's trade policy constructed solely around what is best for international corporations.
