  1. The man held them for ten years. If he had any capacity for remorse or conscience, it would have manifest. He punched a girl into miscarriage - this is not a man who's going to shed tears and have a road to Damascus moment - he's a selfish ammoral person who is better off dead.

  2. Well said Michael. Don't get me wrong - I AM happy about his death, but only because it was the best thing for HIM as well as society that he's dead. His existence would have been horrific, and I don't blame him opting out, but he is nothing more than the product of his life circumstances and genetics, just as we all are. Any of us could have been him given identical life circumstances.

  3. What point is there in contemplating his evil deeds? He would never have been freed again, so thinking about what he did serves no purpose. Is the function of prison to take vengeance to keep us safe, or to change the behaviour of the perpetrator? Sounds like you simply wanted him to suffer.

  4. No matter how evil he was, I think it would harm the women more to take pleasure in his incarceration. At least now, they are utterly free of him. Regardless of his motivation, it might be the only decent thing he ever did for them.

  5. I agree absolutely with everything you said there, but you've made incorrect assumptions about MY motivation. He would be better off dead because a life lived in prison as a former serial rapist is cruel and unusal punishment. To live the remainder of his life vilified, terried and alone is worse than death a conclusion he quickly reached as well.
