  1. "The earth has been damaged beyond repair" Nonsense. Nihilism like that is even more harmful than the selfish greed of the corporates. If you tell yourself that there's nothing you can do, it justifies doing nothing. If you tell yourself we all need to do more, then movements that exist across the globe and have converted entire nations to environmental thinking will help. Scientific models have been proven wrong time and time again, and we have no idea what climate mitigation technologies may be developed if our very existence looks threatened.

  3. It's neither virtue signalling nor nonsensical. If we all simply accept the planet is doomed, nobody does anything. If we accept that we can still affect change, we make the effort to do so. If that made the difference between your grandkids getting to survive or not, before the Earth died, wouldn't you do so?

Despite the fact that they have revised the age of the earth every 20 years for the past two centuries, they have vacillated between the belief in global warming and global dimming, have no idea about many fundamental mechanisms of our own planet, much less the solar system or universe, have recently been proven totally wrong on the role of dark matter in galaxy formation, frequently report "impossible" planets, stars, and weather systems on other planets, revise their predictions on the rate of global warming frequently, and have careers dependent upon climate change? And no, I'm not a man made climate change denier. What I DO deny, are the conclusions that they reach. Our planet is too complex a system to be certain about anything on a global scale based merely upon a few degrees of temperature increase.

Your "logic" is simplistic. If it takes a generation of people raising the CO2 emissions by a fraction of a fraction of a percent to lower global emissions by even just 10% I would consider that a reasonable trade off. Surely you comprehend the maths of that? "One must be fair though, the left wing hasn't exactly done anything to help either." This is not a left right issue for goodness sake. Do you think Republican voters will have houses any further from the coastline as it approaches? What was the political alliance of the citizens of Peurto Rico, or Texas? Do you think they will be any more immune to the consequences of global warming? "I mean the Paris Accord was/is a joke that does nothing." Is that so, because I see Germany going 100% renewable, the largest economy on the planet; China going massively green, and countries all across Europe treating the need to get off fossil fuels as a matter of urgency. Could it have been tougher? Yes, but then the danger would be that nations that depend upon outdated forms of fuel refuse to sign to it.

  6. Humans have proven themselves to be supremely adaptable and resilient. We survived being knocked down to under 1000 people, the likelihood that with all our technology, we will not continue to survive is, in my opinion, low. And "WE" didn't choose greed and avarice - a few thousand people did. The vast majority of us are willing to make the required sacrifices.
