  1. It's a difficult job, so they get a get out of jail free card? This was not an issue of the difficulty - it was cost cutting, pure and simple. The oil industry makes trillions of dollars - if it has to spend a bit more of that money to ensure proper management, then so be it. You should be a lobbyist for big business - they use that argument too. "Running our factories WITHOUT polluting is expensive and difficult. Therefore, we should e allowed to slowly poison the entire planet."

There are some businesses, that no matter how great the difficulties of managing them, there is an expectation - a requirement - that the only acceptable standard is 100% safety in the critical aspects . I have no idea what happened in Benghazi, but frankly, anything the US government does always has an undercurrent of ulterior motive. As for reasons for the blowout, there simply should not be room for human error in systems that have this much potential for destruction.
