  2. A fop is a sissified male who makes lots of feminine gestures with his hands, wears ruffled collars and overly elaborate clothes and acts like the 1970s TV stereotype of a feminine gay male. They were very fashionable in upper class French society in the 1700s.

  3. Nah, don't believe it all, but it is possible that there's an ideal which favours certain features. Our tendency to value assertiveness may be so ingrained that only women with more masculine proportions make it to power in government, but in Hollywood? Quite the opposite. The more feminine the better given that the original primary consumers and producers of movies were male.
