Always mistrusted Assange. Fuck him. The UK government needs to demand that the embassy he's in returns him as an enemy or lose all diplomatic rights. Acting as an enemy of the free world whilst taking advantage of archaic rules of diplomatic immunity is ridiculous.

Don't be a fucking idiot Paul. Rules are only good as long as they continue to serve the intended purpose. Or are you suggesting that because an agreement was reached hundreds of years ago that it should be beyond question? Incidentally, the idea of the diplomatic compound being a piece of sovereign territory, only came into being in 1961. Britain has had its diplomatic immunity and sovereignty breached on at least four occasions in my lifetime. It's like rules against violence in schools - the only people who follow them are the already law abiding, and all it does is constrains them from defending themselves. When those rules are used to hide international espionage agents from arrest then they need to be put aside. The idea that Assange can scurry like a rat into the Ecuadorean embassy, and we allow him to remain, openly committing espionage against our interests is pathetic, and frankly any nation that would harbour him under such circumstances does not deserve the privilege of diplomatic immunity. Diplomatic immunity was to protect foreign DIPLOMATS from the vagaries of political ill will, not to act as a safe space for criminals from entirely different nations. The entire system needs an immediate review or it should be abandoned. You can be certain that our enemies do not feel similarly constrained.

The average person in the age of Wyatt Earp had the sense to entrust the gun play to professionals. Moreover, they didn't own vast caches of military-grade heavy weaponry. "why shouldn't teachers, administrators, janitors and even students be allowed to bring guns to school to defend themselves from violence" Are you serious? Because the average gun owner is not trained. Because guns are more likely to harm their owners and their families than any bad guys. Because the last thing you need is running gunfights in schools with only the initial shooter knowing who's the bad guy. Because bringing MORE weapons into schools makes it even harder to identify the people who are dangerous.
