  1. The issue was not whether fetuses were conscious, but whether they could experience pain and pleasue. Merely because they're deeply asleep in no way invalidates their status, any more than you suddenly become expendable when you're asleep. All of the examples you gave only serve to confirm that consciousness is present - at least by week 30.
