  1. NPC does NOT mean "non participating character" it means "non player character". It's generally used to denote the filler characters in a role playing game NOT a platformer like Mario! The insult is designed to suggest that you are simply following a pre-programmed script and I think it can somewhat be levelled at everyone in the Trump era where we have become so polarised, but you're correct, if it applies to anyone especially, it's the hard right and Trumpists.
