"John wants me to give it a go like he did" 3 seconds later the table is on fire. 10 seconds later the cabin is ablaze and Joe comes running out waving his arms. "John, I don't think I did it right!"

I think that the sense of a community working towards a common goal is one of the things that makes this project so appealling. All so beautiful in 4K!

Protectionist laws and excessive taxation in Britain and America truly worsened the lives of millions of ordinary people, and still do.
61
This 18th century building stuff just never gets old. I think because it was the highest level of building crafting that an ordinary person could accomplish without special training and equipment. I feel if the world ever went crazy, this is something that you could revert to.

What false narrative?

@JP-zu8ij A month or so ago, a 19 year old and his sister got buried on the beach in a hole they dug. The guy died. It was very sad - he seemed like a good kid. I appreciate the consideration.
16
Socialised all the way to Ryan's stomach!
16
Yeah, but who has the luxury of time to hand make bread any more?
16
I imagine that John is a great father. Perhaps a bit strict, but a decent man.
15
Wow, what a remarkable piece of engineering for the period. Fantastic craftsmanship Brandon. Really impressive!
13
I can feel my arteries screaming in terror but it looks delicious. I never spice my chicken, but this looks exactly how I like it. Would go nicely with a traditional sunday dinner if not for the cost of 7000 pounds of butter!
13
Yeah, he's a great fit, but I just can't work out precisely why.
12
I'm a 21st century guy through and through, but I'll stop everything for a Townsends build video.
11
Joe seems like a gentle soul. I love the homestead videos. I love the vibe, and I love the music.

@MaxRager80 Don't be a pedant.
7
Nothing to do with inflation. It's corporate greed pure and simple.
6
Jeez, really makes me realise how precarious the production of heat was in the deep winter. So many stages that needed to go right.
5
Little to be thankful for today.
5
Ryan has a lovely presentational style.
5
I LOVED this finished piece, and I was fascinated to see you create it. I found the background tooling especially interesting.
5
I love anything on the homestead, but I super like these "sounds of the homestead" videos. They feel like an advert for expensive aftershave or clothing!

@WaffleExplosion99 "The oppressor would not be so strong if he did not have accomplices among the oppressed." Simone de Bouvoir Hello accomplice.
3
When it starts oozing from your pores.
3
@jpage5350 In what way is this different to the way it would really be done?
3
@jpage5350 Ahhh, I see where you're coming from. Yes, that makes sense.
3
@banterman That's what I thought but if you read Jess's elaboration below, it actually makes a lot of sense. It's just the term that's a bit grating.
3
You need to be careful hunting them John, Morels can be vicious if they're wounded.
3
Thoroughly enjoyed that. The crafstmanship was deeply gratifying, and seeing it all fit together was just great. Can't imagine how ecstatic you were to see it all completed.
3
Surely that would be fried?
3
Then farmer turned up, and said "I make the food that keeps the EVERYBODY alive." ;-)
3
@darthguilder1923 I'm referring to laws that limit who can and cannot make candles for instance. I'm referring to where you can and cannot buy pharmaceuticals for instance. I'm not sure even that the well paying jobs you refer to were the norm given that America's wages in real terms have actually DECREASED since the 1950s.
3
Such a gentle man, but I love any episode at the cabin.
3
Your costume and the set are wonderful. Perfect for the story John.
3
I love these 18th century versions of modern recipes. A refreshing change. Course, if you really want to impress, make some more buildings, or go on more expeditions. Also, what has happened to Ryan?
3
Her enthusiasm is very appealling.
2
@leeshmonsterzero Yes, same here.
2
@tissuepaper9962 Agreed.
2
@MosBikeShop Ha ha ha - don't recall that. Sounds funny!
2
@vigilantcosmicpenguin8721 🤣🤣🤣
2
@Pandaemiation I eat it with baked beans and brussel sprouts and I like to taste them. Also, I don't really much liked spiced food.
2
How is this project going Mark?
2
I'd have starved to death by the end of the first month...
2
By a country mile. Anything out on the homestead is just incredible. Construction, building, smithing, cooking - love it all when it's out there. It feels so much more authentic and closer to reason I watch than content recorded back in the house, especially since Ryan and the computer guy left.
2
I love watching Ryan cook because he's so appreciative of the nuances of 18th century food. That said, this dish looks really stodgy. I imagine you could eat a few mouthfuls then it would get harder and harder to swallow.
2
Great vibe. 6:56 What on earth isn't he wearing!?
2
That's such a great set and costume. They really add to presentation. No whow do you get that juice off your fingers authentically! :D
2
@20greeneyes20 In America, I'm sad to say that's true. Corporations thrive on citizen poverty. People on the verge of starvation don't tend to protest.
2
@beehead5661 "The average American adult watches approximately 3 hours of TV per day." Exactly. That's why they don't have time for all that bread making! 😛
2
Great job!
2
A poor explorer's feast is apparently eating the other members of your party after they "try to kill you."
