  3. ^ Complete drivel. The Bismarck was sunk by Gunfire & Torpedoes from the Home Fleet. The Swordfish only took out her ability to steer and caused some damage to the propellers themselves... and one recorded hit to the belt armour which failed to do debilitating damage. (air dropped FAA Torpedoes were less potent and had shorter range than those on period surface ships & Sub's) Fun Addendum: It was HMS Prince of Wales that mission killed the Bismarck, causing her to lose most of her fuel reserve, putting the bow down in the water (reducing her speed), and making her especially visible from the air due to the oil slick she was hemorrhaging out.
