Also nope; you're downplaying both countries economic problems, as well as why Spain economically ended up falling behind many of its contemporaries between the 1500's and its fall from status as a world power in the 1800's... which included losing most of its varied overseas territories. It's also more of a topic discussed throughout the anglosphere, including by historian and economist Thomas Sowell. (good luck trying to defame him 😆🤣) Anyway; Spain was historically a consistent enemy of us Brit's, so naturally we find the reasons why Spain declined very interesting. If Spainish politicians and economists were more introspective as to their nation's past failures and the lessons to be learned from it, the country would be better off for it. (a bit like how us Brit's try to learn in the present day from the socio-economic bad decisions of the 1950's & '60's, that put the economy & industry in the toilet during the '70's)

  8. Tis worth pointing out though: The Hundred Years War was actually a conflict between dynasties over land, not "england vs france". (the concept of nations didn't exist as we'd know it; rather various dynasties & warlords [depending where you were] played the age old game of moar land / subjects / etc! against each other, while trying to bring the results together into something cohesive) Case in point: several principalities in the region swapped which side they were on during the conflict. Had Joan of Arc been on the losing side of the war... well people notable in their own day were rendered minor footnotes in history's narrative for less. But yeah~ the wokists are utter bovine effluvium, irrespective of the finer details of the history they seek to sully.
