If you want peace, then being prepared for war is essential. The Swizz know this; and as such whilst nuetral in basically every war, are armed to the teeth.

Ultimately the allies proved better at choking the Kriegsmarine, as the latter lost the vast majority of all U Boats sent out to sea.

Aye. A bit like how the IJN gave their 18.1" guns a misleading name (roughly translating to about 15.6") to try and dupe the allies. Bit confusing when post-hoc seperating out one type of munitions from another.

^ Nope. The latter failed to ever produce one that could be used in munitions, whilst the British did. Saying the Germans had any role is like saying that the French had the idea for Vectored Thrust first; technically true but irrelevant, as the British were the ones to make it work in an aircraft.

^x2 Says an american exceptionalist / wehrboo with a bruised ego XD. Fact : The British had better shipbuilding facilities to and warships than the Germans, only rivalled by the US. Fact : The British had better Bombers than the Germans, and superior industry to produce more of them than the Germans. Only the US were comparable. Fact : between D Day and VE Day; the Germans lost ground on the western front every day to the western allies. Fact : concepts < in-service hardware, everytime. The Germans failed to produce a Proximity Fuse that was service ready; whilst the western allies pulled it off. Same thing with the Atomic Bomb, and dozens of other decisive innovations that made a German victory impossible . #DealWithIt @ionbusman2086 British & Canadian too though. The Soviets too depending which manufacturing aspects we're focusing on. (the Soviets being reliant on the other three allies for quite a lot of commodities)

Kind of. It is a kind of crude and disposable sonar XD.

@gyrogearloose1345 Fair point. My bad for the mysnomer.

@andrewtaylor940 I am well aware of innovations that won the UK & US the Battle of the Atlantic; such as the Cavity Magnetron, closing the air gaps, and the Hedgehog ASW weapon.

@dukecraig2402 There's certainly the point that British Oil supplies weren't disrupted to any meaningful effect; as the UK had a comfortable surplus of it, whilst Germany was always short. A stark contrast to WWI; where limited supply relative to coal was why only USN warships that ran on coal were invited to join the RN at Scapa Flow. Sub's were enough of a problem to merit combattance though; as shown by how the Japanese failure to protect their shipping lines saw them running short of everything.
