They're not very nice to look at, aren't very nice to drive, are an almost comically unsafe deathtrap with an unextingushable metal fire of a battery, and have shit range & refuel time... and are mostly driven by yuppie nobs, just like the only EV apologist in this thread has proved himself to be π . We laughed / still laugh at anyone whom bought a Gee Wiz in the '90's and '00's because the car was not only crap, but seriously uncool. We laugh at the owners of current EV's so hard because not only do the cars have all the downsides of the Gee Wiz, but adds in a shorter overall lifespan and the fact its batteries are a Metal Fire waiting to happen. (anyone who's seen the footage of Grenfell Tower & knows about the Rimac crash on TGT knows the folly of living in or driving in something with the unextingushable properties of Thermite π )

Moral of the story: think before you buy. It's safe to say those whom buy EV's either don't, or did but are not using their own money.

Given he's not the only '90's BBC presenter with a criminal record, and that even back then he had the Smarmy Nob air about him, his current shillery for the scam that is EV's is no surprise.

Comes to something when a Gee Wiz has more resale value π
2
The Solution: buy a car that predates this "subscription" nonsense π .

Β @magfan77Β Certainly nobody sane should π >best Clarkson voice< "I'd rather eat the money."
1
Indeed. As always, Question is full of shite.
1
Gamers familiar with DLC & DRM; amen
1
Β @davidbarlow350Β Yup. Many Toyota Prius's were sold their way in the 00's under the same conditions π€
1
@robgraham9234Β On paper greater simplicity doesn't always equal superior durability. Wankel Rotary Engines for a time were claimed to be the future for the same reason, only for limitations on efficiency relative to regular ICE to demonstrate otherwise.
1
That, and he's always been a smarmy yuppie nob π

Nissan Micra K10: same

βΒ @sminem6572Β As someone who's still here after a glancing blow from a mid sized hatchback at over 70mph... I'd say surrviving is possible... but the aftermath challenges your desire to live π
1
As someone far less well seasoned, I agree. I'd rather drive the most humdrum car (such as a Toyota Corolla) until life's end than be stuck with an EV. That, and a world where there aren't classic MG's, Triumphs, Jag's & more on the roads, would be much the poorer.
1
Β @WhiteDieselShedΒ Possibly π Modders certainly enjoy challenging perceptions of what's possible π€

Flawless Summary ππ
1
Definitely the SAAB. Pity there wasn't an original Puegeot 504 in the list, or a reasonable condition Jag' XJ6
1
Yup. Smarmy yuppie nobs of a feather, flock together. Saying that as someone with a family member that went to that school too, albeit over four decades prior (whom also thinks Bliar is a money grubbing >bleep<).
1
Yes. The Peugeot 504 I'd also add π
1
@robaustin245Β True. My family had one from the '60's uptil the '80's; arguably the most durable & useful car my grandmother ever had, and one I believe she missed a lot, after she was badly advised to scrap it after issues with the brakes in the '80's. (that were fixable, but at the time could be deemed as more than buying a new car π) Ironic really that spotting a 504 is harder in the UK than its contemporary French staple, the far more complicated and troublesome [but very comfy & interesting] CitroΓ«n CX π€
1
^ Nah; it's because the Insurers know EV's are a scam, unlike the guillible / other-people's cash flushed yuppies who buy them.
1
I'd like to see a 100% drop in E-Scooters, like back in 2018 where there were none ππ . Lazy Teenagers & Fat people should have no excuse not to pedal π

Always has been
1
@McGrowlers1Β Agreed. There are at least three Stags in my hometown, alongwith a few TR7's. By contrast, only one Morris Marina & one Morris Ital Estate. (the latter of which have declined in numbers so sharply that now, there's less than 14 examples known globally π )
1
@AnthonyStafford-qx5hx Aye. That, or he knows they're crap but is a shill benefitting from the scam.
