Buying online on Black Eye Friday does nothing but help put shops out of business, and makes scum corp's like Amazon wealthier... I'd rather eat the money 😂

Here in the UK ""Black Friday"" was never a thing until it was controversially introduced by brainless corperations. I make a point of vetoing shop and website purchases alike during the ""holiday"", albeit also because - having worked in retail twice - I detest most "customers" as a matter of principle. The Medical Profession in the UK did previously have something called Black Eye Friday , an unrelated date in the year where certain types of medical cases spike (usually bar room brawl related).

Nah. Conventional energy generation accidents have claimed exponentially more lives than Nuclear ever has or ever will. Having worked with and had a personal interest in the history of wood, coal & oil fuels over the years... they're all nasty stuff for your health if misused. (BR & the Royal Navy for instance used to pour water on the coal used for locomotives & ships boilers at coalling stations, both to reduce the chance of coal dust fires/explosions, but also so the workers wouldn't inhale the dust and suffocate in agony as the dust combines with moisture in the lungs to produce a highly toxic & choking black sludge... in some ways a worse fate than radiation poisoning)

@freyathewanderer6359 Usually yes but not always. The Tube currently wastes a lot of money on "anti-suicide barriers" on the Tube, because of a handful of people throwing themselves in front of arriving - non-stopping trains 🤦♂️. This is illogical as an expenditure as the cost-benefit doesn't even closely add up, and only means those determined to blue-screen themselves will just do it somewhere else, rather than at all. It's been claimed it's also to stop people from fainting onto the tracks or being pushed by someone else, but this doesn't add up either, and certainly doesn't merit the vast cost or delays to service.

One of the reasons TU-144 lost out to Concord' (an ostensibly smaller aircraft) that should be noted; TU-144 couldn't truly Supercruise . (though in fairness, only a handful of military jet fighters could do so at the time, and a couple of Bomber types) Other points of inferiority were: • Less advanced Wheel Brakes; the reason she needed braking parachutes. • A less well devised Ogival Delta wing. • Far noisier Air Conditioning; one of the reasons the cabin was so loud. • Much more vibration during supersonic flight, due to the placement of the engines; they reduced the issue post-prototype but never fully fixed it. ...and so much more. The TU-144 was an impressive effort for a country as technically backward as the USSR, and did lead to technical advancements on their side... but at the same time showed in stark relief how behind the west they really were, in almost everything that could be measured 🤔 .
1
The British secret-services also fed disinformation about Concord to the Soviets. One theory behind why the wing form on TU-144 is less efficient than Concord's Ogival Delta Wing, is that Tupolev followed the Brit's disinformation rather too closely 😂 .

@bilindalaw-morley161 The V2 also killed more people while being built, than when being used as a weapon 🤔 .
1
Or; depending which theory is believed; a French jet tried to flu close to take pictures of the aircraft, the TU-144 pilots maneuvered hard to avoid the unexpected french aircraft... and the airframe couldn't withstand the stress. Given other precedents of the French & Soviets covering stuff up, it's likely the French & Soviet brass opted to save face and bury the awkward details.

@ricktandron3669 Agreed. She was chiefly responsible, and should have faced a Manslaughter charge.

There is no ""wage gap""; stop lying.

^ This.

Yup. They should have been arrested as a group, charged with murder & willful destruction of property, and barred from Walmart for life. Sooner or later; the scum have to be made an example of.

I avoid online purchases as well, because it's not a legitimate holiday in my country (UK), as we don't have any of that ""Thanksgiving"" nonsense. The yanks can keep their absurd tatfests; we have better things to do.
