Sport is a bit different though; as the fans are not just an audiance, at least in the way customers of a cinema are.   25. As someone from a town that formerly had a CEGB coal power station, I've never heard one account from back then that it was clean. Heck, if you parked your car downwind from the plant, it would be caked in black soot in less than an hour. (now imagine breathing that kind of air, every day, only the soot & large particulates percentage is many times larger... because that's Chinese inner cities today... and ours within living memory... that's why victorian buildings are typically blackened & filthy in archive footage) The point about Cooling Towers is however valid. Journalists ignore the handful of thin chimneys that actually handle the noxious emmissions, because they aren't as photogenic nor imposing.

I would refute the notion - however firmly asserted - that all lives are of equal [societal] worth; for a street mugger has less than a lawful man, a murderer has little value and a serial-rapist has none whatsoever. There is no such thing as a given right to exist; but classical liberal societies assume that we do from the start. A man or woman can through their actions dis-earn that societal right, at least in societies where a court is empowered to take it away. What skin colour somebody has however; is as irrelevant a detail toward their demonstrable character and societal worth as their height or favourite food. At least... it's supposed to be. Supposed to. We unfortunately still live in a world where some care more about which arbitrary group of people have the proverbial whip over the rest. This can be a majority or a minority, but it's contrary to classical liberal & conservative values all the same.
