Basically yes. She outrights states that her powers are dangerous, and that she can't afford to emote, lest - as Starfire does in her body - she blow up, melt and otherwise destroy the world. Raven however has her SES much closer to the surface than most, with dark powers being her normal ability, albeit at typically lower intensity and a lot of self-restraint on their use. (as of course she could very easily permenantly ruin opponents, as she ends up doing to Dr Light) She still finds many things other characters are unnerved by appealing. An example is when the city is turned into a dark hellscape. She instinctively reacts with "Cool", before noticing her friends look and adding "errr I mean~ oops?" XD Some exceptions apply though, when she doubts whether her bedroom is unsettling even for her to sleep in. Awesome character.

@Jane-oz7pp Yup. Basically the multiple world lines from Stiens Gate, albeit with each line being a different Condinuity, with its own Raven.

A little surprised that Mahou Shoujo wasn't brought up in this, where a subset of Superpowerful Evil Side has been a thing for decades. Sometimes called Corruption (or Corrupted), it involves the Magical Girl (either the MC or a side character; sometimes even a normally unpowered character) turning into an evil version of herself, for all number of reasons. (with either dark or evil light powers to match) The typical result being the character gets a cooler outfit than they've ever had or ever will wear in the series, gets far more powerful (often enough to overpower all the other protagonists) & sometimes more powerful than they ever will be again, loses most restraint on the use of their powers while being far more confident as a character, and in some cases - like Black Lady from BSSM - gets a major figure &/or cleavage upgrade for the duration. Live action stuff in Japan feature it sometimes, it was parodied in Oreimo, and non-Japanese animation has had it for about 30 years now. Quite an interesting subtopic I think for a video.

I now have an amusing notion of a seriously unattractive and unpleasent Karen, that turns into a seriously attractive & virtuous goddess whenever her SGS activates ^_^

The Avatar State has most of the traits of a SES (such as a catastrophic total end of the Avatar line if the Avatar is slain while in said state), but it's not evil. It does reduce the given Avatar's inhabitions sure, but that's not the same thing. After all: even when about to kill Ozai, Aang frames it within the moment as delivering justice to an objectively evil man: "You and your fathers have devestated this world, and now you will pay the ultimate price". Sokka and the rest of the Gaang are fine with killing Ozai. They don't relish having to do it, but know it's the only [apparent] way to stop a genocide and end the war.
