Perhaps like HMS Warspite or USS Oklahoma, she'll choose to go down where she likes, rather than where is currently planned 😉

SS Great Britain and HMS Warrior: ahem

@lunarvvolf9606 Nonsensical take. By your "logic" all museums should be bulldozed. Fortunately such matters aren't in the hands of duch shortsighted anhedonics 🙄 .

@erikdevereux4997Â I see where you're coming from, but I don't agree, as the failure of one organisation to find funding doesn't a sweeping statement make. As Drachinifel pointed out a few years ago, the UK managed to not just find the money to salvage the SS Great Britain - a Victorian era ocean liner that'd been one of the abandoned wrecks at the Falklands for the better part of a century - but largely restore her back in Bristol as a permanent museum. Contrastingly, an organisation in the USA allowed the USS Texas - a far younger ship with military grade armour plating - to deteriorate to the degree that her hull was thinner in places than the Great Britain's, a ship that'd technically been a completely abandoned hulk for decades prior to rescue. My point is that a ship wasting away in salt water is not inevitable, nor insalvagable, and that incompetent mantainance is far worse for a ship even than being an abandoned wreck (ironically). That; and it shows that either the organisation in charge of the SS United States either didn't explore all the options, or that the USA itself has serious issues re' heritage funding & commitment (not that the UK isn't a bit lacking there too)

@lunarvvolf9606 Kindly stop wasting good typeface with your espousements of incoherent gibberish 🥱🥱 . Also: spend some time learning the difference between an Ocean Liner and a Cruise Ship, as they have about as much in common as Butter has with Margarine 😆🤣 .

16:42 Would be great to at some point have a Ships that grounded / sank themselves video, as there's plenty of civi' & warships that fit that bill, such as HMS Warspite, Sao Paolo & the USS Oklahoma.

@KainRazielMT Shows how little you know about anything then ye tonedeaf prissy bawbag 😆🤣🤡🤡 . Warspite famously snapped her bowline & ran hard aground on the coast. She had to be laboriously dismantled in-place. The USS Oklahoma sank herself mid-pacific while under tow to a scrapyard after the war. Both went out on their own terms. Consider yourself educated.

@BrickAdventurers My point was - which that one feckless wanker in the thread missed - is that it'd add to the ship's mystique if she opted to go down in a different [though not in a bad way] manner than expected, as has occured with a few warships over the generations. The Battleship São Paulo is another example. Was being towed to the USA for scrapping in the postwar era, when she decided to sink herself instead. She and the Oklahoma are the two largest Capital Ships who's location remains a mystery.

@IRNHYD Well put. It seems the guy is just a tourist arsewipe though.
