Same. It's RIDICULOUSLY expensive with all of the extra added fees. I only use these services when I'm out of town on vacation.

If you tip your delivery driver he wouldn't call you and act like that in the first place. 🫠🙃

This is a bit different because your guys receive a livable wage already, they were treated well by the client, and it's uncommon in your field to receive tips.
5
Yes, he SHOULD be mad at Door Dash, HOWEVER; when we order food WE KNOW that the delivery person relies on our tips, so WHY ORDER if you wont tip them?? 🤨
5
But the client wouldn't have called you in the first place had you tipped them for the service you chose to receive...ðŸ«

@deezelfairy If you didn't tip, you didn't pay your driver in spite of any other fee you've paid. He should've taken the food back to the restaurant.
3
@AndrewTheFrank Don't use delivery services where people require tips to live then. I avoid Uber Eats and Door Dash like the plague because I think they're overpriced. What I'd never do is order from them knowing the driver needs my tip to survive then not tip.
3
As a customer you shouldn't order food if you aren't going to tip, knowing full well that the delivery person relies on your tips to survive. I don't agree with the tipping system in general, but since it's the current system we have, we should either participate in it properly or refrain from using services where people rely on tips.
2
Agreed, but the customer shouldn't use a service knowing that the service provider relies on tips to survive then not tip. Atp, don't use the service and don't be a patron of the business.
2
As long as you're not using services where the employee relies on a tip and they get a fair base pay (food delivery drivers, waiters, etc) then there's nothing wrong with tthat.
2
If ordering food without tipping, knowing full well your delivery person needs your tip to live, mea.s your driver will be working for almost free, their no longer providing you a service. They are now your slave and you are their slave master.

@Brah, Trumpwon, bigly Food delivery is a relatively new service so to compare it to tipping at a restaurant is apples to oranges. If you don't want to tip, I COMPLETELY understand. What no one can seem to understand is why you'd choose to use a service where the delivery person relies on your tips then not tip. Why is that? 👀
1
@MrNicoJac Then he should've tipped to avoid that situation. (If he's a war vet with PTSD he shouldn't be living in that complex seeing as how there are several factors outside of the delivery guy that could set him off.)
1
That's a bit different. Delivery drivers climb stairs, go out in inclement weather, etc.
1
I 100% agree with you, however; we dont live in a world of what should be but rather what is. If we know that tipping currently is the norm and how delivery drivers make their living, why order something and not tip? I literally avoid these companies because of all the unnecessary fees. I'd rather go get the food myself rather than have to tip you to bring it to me, but I'd never have someone bring me food then not tip them.
1
It doesn't matter if you're using a promo code, you should still tip your driver. If you cannot afford to tip, then do whatever you would've done if Uber Eats and DD didn't exist.
1
Just like with waiters, delivery people rely on your tips as the primary means of survival. Nonmatter hwo much you pay in other fees when ordering food, it's your tip or lack thereof that pays the driver.
1
None of those people in those professions rely on tips for their livelihood. Food delivery drivers do.
1
We don't live in a world of what should be, we live in a world of what is. Delivery drivers rely on tips for their livelihood so while a tip shouldn't be part of their income, it is. Knowing this if you don't want to tip, which I understand, then simply don't use the service.
1
If the delivery is free then there's no reason in the world why you can't tip.
1
@chaos.corner If they offer freepickup and you choose to get the free delivery instead, you are opting for a luxury service which means you should tip.
1
When I was a server I LOVED tipshare. It evened out the playing field and allowed everyone to work cooperatively as a team rather than every man for himself.
1
Those fees go to the company not the driver. Food delivery services are incredibly expensive, but they ARE luxury services. Otherwise you'd get your own food or cook. It's understandable if someone doesn't want to have to pay all of the fees, but it's unacceptable to order from a service where you know the driver relies on your tips but you don't tip. Atp, just don't use the service at all.
1
Of the companies paid more the food would cost more. Ultimately, having food delivered to your door is a luxury service, thus you should be tipping well for it or simply don't use it. B

@Crecross What people will sometimes do is put in a tip when ordering the food to entice the driver to accept the order then change the tip upon delivery or when it's picked up. A financial influencer on YouTube, My Rich BFF, talked about people doing this. I have NO CLUE why these apps allow the customer to change the tip after the order is placed.
1
That's fine so long as you don't use any service where tipping us customary or where the service worker relies on a tip for survival. I don't tip either, but I also don't use most services that require a tip. I cook my own food, do my own, hair, make my own coffee, do my own nails, etc. What I'd never do is go to these places, receive a service, then not tip.
1
He more than likely wasn't going to get a cash tip since cash is strongly discouraged (and in some case forbidden) when using these food delivery apps. The driver asked the customer that as a way to indirectly call him out for not tipping. The customer planned to stiff the driver the entire time.
1
What the company is paying them is irrelevant to what you tip. I couldn't fathom asking my nail tech how much of my bill she's profits off of in order to decide how much to tip her. I tip her based on a percentage (or more if the service was more intricate) and keep it moving. If I'm not willing to do that then I should do my own nails at home for free...👀
1
Then DON'T USE DELIVERY SERVICES. I agree that the fees are outrageous, but that's why I personally simply DON'T USE THEM. I can understand not wanting to tip someone, but I cannot fathom why anyone would use a service where the service provider relies on tips to live Then NOT tip.
1
I'd agree with you except for the fact that the customer posted his ring camera footage of the interaction online, positioning himself as the victim. That's not about feeling threatened, thats about playing the victim and wanting to feel vindicated. Why would I further agitate a situation where I'm being threatened by a person who knows where I live? If anything I'd only send it to corporate.
