We don't live in the same world we lived in 50 years ago... Technology can do much of what humans once did in a car manufacturing plant. How many jobs is he really trying to bring back? Tariffs start this week. It takes billions of dollars and about 5 years to get a facility operational. What do people and companies do in the meantime? The tariffs aren't mandated by Congress. Trump can reverse them as quickly as he instituted them. Which car manufacturer is going to invest time and money into shutting down overseas production and building domestic facilities when decisions are fickle? Americans have grown accustomed to certain prices for certain goods. Overseas manufacturing is alluring because of its cheaper labor. Which American is going to buy an American made car with the higher American labor costs included at the same rate they once bought cars at before?
