As the daughter of immigrants who first migrated to NYC, I never thought I'd say WTF to some of this stuff either, but here I am...๐คท๐ฟโโ๏ธ I have walked the streets of NYC on many winter days when the temp dropped to the 20s, teens, and even single digits and watched homeless people shiver and freeze. My heart ached because all I could do was buy them a coffee but I wanted to house every single last one of them...just to find out now that the Roosevelt Hotel was always an option and warming buses could've been used to help keep them comfortable and at least alive...๐

If $2600 makes a criminal more financially stable than you, then YOU need to reevaluate your life.

Crime has been a problem in NYC REGARDLESS of how people have voted....๐ฌ๐คจ๐ซ

โโย @puddincup9879ย This is indicative of the type of "family" you seem to have. ๐ Living with your parents is NOT leaching.
28
Are you a Millennial or a Gen Zer? (Lots of adults in those generations are living with family indefinitely.) Consider saving your money and relocating to a lower cost state.

I was born in Brooklyn (East New York) and I LOVE NYC, but the effort just wouldn't make sense. I can afford to live in either NYC or the South, but what you can get in the South for $750k is NOWHERE NEAR what you'd get in NYC.

I nearly choked on my spit when a friend told me a few of her cards are at 30%-35%. Like, sis, they're robbing you without the gun. ๐

NYC is a 3rd world city in a Gucci belt. Do with that information what you wish.
5
If you leave Manhattan and go to one of the other boroughs you'll just struggle less, but you WILL still struggle.
5
I DEFINITELY agree that there are people who need to leave, but from an overarching standpoint, moving is not a feasible solution. What happens to NYC when 6 million+ people leave NYC? What happens to the cost of living and quality of life for the current citizens of where they're moving to? Leaving as a broad answer is simply kicking the can down the road.

WHO is the usual suspect? ๐

โย @edstueckle4856ย WHO is the 13%? Thirteen percent of what? ๐ค๐ง๐คจ

โย @keithb6717ย Isn't this HIS personal business?

Homelessness has been a major problem in NYC since it was founded. Are any of these measures being taken for native New Yorkers?๐ค

If you're broke because you bought a cup of coffee on your way to work every day, then you have bigger problems than just coffee.

This entire thing has me confused AF. ๐คจ What did they THINK would happen when they allowed every and anybody into a space and charged them NOTHING to be there? How long did they think this could sustain itself? Where were these resources for the millions of tax paying New Yorkers who are struggling?
2
How does NYC have the money to open the city to migrants FOR FREE LONGTERM, but can't clean up the place? I haven't been to NYC since the pandemic and I won't go.๐คฎ

โย @GodisGood941ย TX is hot, but I feel like Florida is worse bc of the humidity. Even with the AC on, in summer, my clothes are SOAKED with sweat. Summer in FL is officially 3 showers per day min. season. ๐ซ

Let's be real: panic and drama sell, positivity doesn't. That's why every single video has a sense of doom to it.

๐๐๐ That part... NYC and LA are two of the most difficult cities in the entire western WORLD to survive in, yet migrants were able to come here and easily survive. Why didn't NYC have those warming buses for their homeless population this entire time? Why wasn't the Roosevelt hotel turned into a shelter for displaced NYers this entire time? What about those who are struggling (which is most NYers), why didn't they get these funds to make life a little easier for them. And WHO TF is paying for all of this?!? ๐ค

I know people who live in Seattle and we all know you're a liar. ๐๐คก

โย @jaynycha1705ย WHERE are these rooms for rent for $1k a month?? I'm taking notes... Because I have family all through the South Bronx, ENY, and Flatbush who have YET to find these rooms...
1
To lower the recidivism rate...๐คก Would you rather them re-offend and then pay the $50k+ a year to re-incarcerate them? ๐ค
1
Can we please close the borders? We're full. ๐๐

When you're a Democrat(ish) with Republican-esque views on immigration...๐ซ

That's on YOU, love. Should've made better decisions during your working life.

Is anybody else confused as to wtf is going on here? ๐ค This whole situation is so astounding that it feels unreal. So they freely opened the floodgates and acted surprised when they got overwhelemd?๐ค How are they flying migrants out when they didnt even have a system to track them in the first place?๐ค If they wanted to go "anywhere in the world" they would've gone there. They came HERE bc yall told them to...๐ค Where did all of these funds and resources ALL OF A SUDDEN come from to house migrants, keep them warm using buses, provide them with govt sactioned tents, offer them free schooling and medical care...when NYC is one of the hardest cities in the entire WORLD to survive and thrive in? People who worked and paid them high ass taxes in NY for DECADES are assed out, so where did all these resources magically come from? ๐ค

โ@user-cj9uu4mr4x NYC was a shยกthole even under Rep. rule, too. It's always just been a shยกtty city.
1
Perhaps stop housing and feeding migrants?? ๐๐๐ซ

๐งI 100% agree theft is part of the problem but, is it possible that changes in how ppl shop (online), competitors (Amazon), & high commercial rent also play a major role?
1
If this is a possibility, why haven't they BEEN doing this for their HUGE homeless population?
1
I understand drama sells, but will ONE positive video kill anyone? ๐ค
1
This is a WONDERFUL idea!! LOVE IT! โค๏ธ Very compassionate. Ofc there need to be stipulations, but this is great.
1
I'm sorry this happened to you. Yeah, it's CRAZY that they can house migrants yet New Yorkers can't afford thwir rent.
