Israel has been nurturing Hamas to prevent 2 state solution. It was a years long agenda, and Hamas didn't allow elections since 2007. Warnings of imminent attack in Oct last year were ignored. Now Israel is taking all of Gaza and keeps messing out in other regions, too. If that doesn't raise alarm bells for a future conflict in the region I don't know what will.
