@buhtcheeks and what's wrong on that? When you retire, will you have enough money to sustain yourself? All bills? Not everyone had a job that paid enough to generate wealthy pension savings. And those jobs need to be done, too. How much does your cleaner get? Money also devalue over time. So current pensioners get support at the current earnings value. I see it pretty fair, as long as the population is able to sustain itself, with enough people getting fair salaries and taxes or social security are paid adequately to the earnings. Pushing wages of the majority workers down while giving massive tax breaks to the rich is creating a black hole in public finances.

@buhtcheeks What if you were disabled and unable to work? At all, ever? Solidarity... is America a Christian nation or what? Feed the poor, clothe the naked. That money is running low thank to Reagan and all his successors. Taxing the wealth and CEOs having 10x the salary, not 4000x of the workers while syphoning money offshore to avoid paying taxes, meant a middle class was able to afford home on just one income and wife staying home with kids.

@Habibi_exe once again: thank Reagan and co. And I doubt Trump is going to help you out. Besides, even your savings aren't secure anymore. Anytime a company can go under and so go your savings or pension funds. Nobody guarantees anything anymore. Enjoy it while you can.

@Bugginout79 I like your optimism. Just not everybody has a potential to put aside as much money, either not earning as much, or havin greater expenses (like, you know, having kids, future tax payers), or fell sick and couldn't earn so much for 35 years, or inflation caused by greedy businesses, that ate into your money over time... there are far more people like that than you can imagine. And they also deserve to live, often contributing to society many other means... we don't kick them to the kerb because they haven't been in a well paying jobs all their working lives and they haven't been lucky with plentiful savings for their retirement. After all, we are humans living in a society, that historically thrived when taking care of each other, not applying a jungle like mentality, me, me, me and F them all.

@jessecortez9449 Repeat after me: Social Security. It is not your investment into yourself. It is an investment of the society into itself, on the whole, so people didn't die from hunger or cold (in theory), that they had something to fall on in hard times, that the society remains functional. Have you ever put yourself into their shoes? I guess not, every one of you bitching how you were robbed by the government. We all have one stomach and need one roof over our head. We use services paid by taxes, insurance, other fees of other people from before birth when we haven't earned a dime yet, and alike for the next many years until we get the fist job. We live in an enclosed ecosystem where those earning more contribute more (in theory) and those just getting by, for whatever reason, contribute less. What a bunch of myopic selfish folks around. And they make it to the hig politics and screw everyone else with this mentality.

@Bugginout79 And by put aside I meant exactly the savings, not social security. Guys, I am not surprised America is where it is today with these attitudes. While during the pandemic the govt was flooding the economy with money (so we didn't count more bodies on the road side due to hardship and lay-offs), overall throughout the history profit was the main driver for inflation. By making profit, you literally make up money, especially the banking sector. The 2% inflation is considered a sweet spot, not too much, not too little. Who makes profit if not businesses? State doesn't inherently need to make profit, they need at least balance income with output. Govt will only pump money into the system when there is need, not by default.
