Interesting, thanks for pointing that out. Never had a blue ray stuff of any kind, and I was just fine. Not missing a thing LOL

Those data sent to advertisers are anonymised, right? Their waste of money if you turn on an adblock.

Six years of not fixing the issue that had below the low priority? Waaau!

@poolboyinla I don't really watch movies as much anymore. For documentaries I gorge on, listening to the explanations and seeing it in a normal or HD picture on my tv is just enough.

I am getting confused. Are you talking about all Linux adopting Rust or just Ubuntu? Ubuntu isn't the whole Linux. I am new to Linux since last year, I tried a few distros, and Ubuntu took me by surprise to be one foot in the corporate world like Windows. My main distro is LMDE, exactly because Ubuntu might once do with Mint things I wouldn't like. I am getting an impression I did the right thing. Maybe in the future Ubuntu will be a standalone OS, an alternative to the rest of Linux, Windows, Apple... I don't think I want to be a part of it.

Wel, done Debian! A fellow woker here. And proud of it. Why supporting a fascist? Come on!

How it could have been done instead: Firefox having a default firefox search engine, and upon installation display a pop-up that here, you can set up Google as your search engine, and the longer you use this browser with Google, the more pitiful revenue you can earn in your virtual wallet, able to convert it into real money after reaching certain threshold. Here is data collection by Google, but if you don't mind, you can earn some revenue while using it. That way people would voluntarily dip in and the wolf would be satiated and the goat intact. Like giving something back to the users to motivate them.... It certainly would not lead to such a massive income for Mozilla, but we wouldn't need to have one viable alternative against Google wiped out of the space. I cannot wait for Ladybird to come on the scene.

Corrporations hold together against public. Just like the American gestapo arrested a judge ordering not to send people to the concentration camp without due process. I am glad Adobe never saw a dime from me and never will. I don't shop at scamazon either. Nor ayoutube. Ever. Vote with your wallets.

I am not surprised human traffic decreased. I use AI bot often for my computing struggles and anything else. Finding a relevant info across a number of websites is time consuming. Forums also take time o get answers on and often not the correct ones. I don't have time for that, I need answer in seconds and submit the terminal output to the bot to tell me whether the thing was successful or what means what. I don't have time for a full Linux course to become a pc geek. I just want to make my computer mine again, not being ruled over by Microsoft. A simple but determined normie here.

Thanks for this. I am more censored on YT than on the fakebook. Yet, for the sheer amount of lies that are posted there, with fact checking removed, I am considering a different platform. I see you are also on Rumble. Great! Very few of my fav youtubers are there. I am fed up with my comments going missing. How is one supposed to get a fruitful conversation like this?

How about using AI against AI to sift through this nonsense and to identify real communication by real people?

I know it doesn’t feel like it but it is not an end of the world. Imagine not so distant times when the only time people could get entertainment like this was to physically go to the places and pay once, to see it once. If you wanted to see it again, you would need to go there again and pay again. And they lived just fine. Now the times are returning: with either streaming, when you are again held at the mercy of the streaming platform or the owner of the content, they can withdraw it any time, or you pay a subscription for relatively unlimited viewing or rental of the content to see it once. Unless you are skilled and can rip the content for future re-use. There still are countless charity shops that have a plethora of physical discs for you to enjoy though. Maybe more mindful living, instead of mindless consuming of content, is the way forward.

Firewall on the router, firewall turned on on a Linux OS after installation, printer sometimes connecting to the home router, often printing via a cable from Win10 machine. Should I be worried?
