Started listening, just realised it has over 45 minutes. Right now I remember the squatting habit comes from prisons that are overcrowded and under-equipped. No chairs to sit on so they squat. Squatting is a common proactice in Asia for many activities, whether reading, smoking, resting, etc, and it perhaps demands less energy than standing upright. If done right, with feet flat on the ground, it can be quite relaxing and even healthy for our spine, digestion and anything related. I don't think gopniks do it right though.

Gosh, I thought you were going to talk about the 730 days of the current invasion. The timing wasn't coincidental, ws it?

Re bath: before running water was common, people didn't bath or shower every day. In medieval times they maybe had a bath 2x a year and masked body odour with herbs and flowers, various perfumes. Local body wash was at most, like the mentioned over a sink: hands, arms, face, armpits, maybe a bit of front of torso where people could reach, and maybe feet. Nudity was a taboo. Some Brits still have separated taps over a bath tub and take bath 2x a week. No shower.

I just came to your channel, intersting, and a bit of refresher of my basic Russian, also appreciating a comparison to Ukrainian. One thing I don't like though is the use of AI images. You can go without them. I tend to avoid watching stuff with silly AI generated thumbnails.

Seeing at the end you have someone else editing your video, honestly, have a word with him. WTH was AI generated Tom Cruise have to do with this? Who was the other man? Musk? 😂

Some Americans themselves have terrible regional accents, marginally understandable by someone who learned the language from a proper officially spoken English.

Russians were bred to be docile. As long as there was vodka and cabbage, they obeyed. In Eastern Europe many still look back with nostalgia, to the times when they were occupied by the Soviets, because all they needed to do was to go to work and keep their mouth shut. Their basics were taken care of and they often had one job all their lives. Those 'securities' appeal to them still. Now it is a jungle, you need to fight for your space in the society and your job is never secure anymore. It isn't for everyone.

@Elcore I guess it varied from class to class and century to century, but it certainly wasn't as straightforward job as it is today, with running water. I still remember as a child, in my grands without running water, bringing water from the well pumped by hand into the kitchen in two big buckets. Bath wasn't a regular thing there just 40 years ago.

@helgeschneider9069 wasn't it more for social purposes than hygienic alone? What I wanted to say is that in the less distant past of humanity bathing was even less frequent than once a week, which surprised the person mentioned in the video.

@helgeschneider9069 I could guess someone very influential had a skin condition and bathing wasn't doing them good, so ... either way I am glad I live in a current era. Hot shower every day. Yaas!
