That Lurpak thing doesn't seem to display in writing it is butter. It is a spread when it is like this. Not sure whether EU and similar regulations apply to here. If anything, it has been battered with probably plant oils, and such it isn't a classic butter anymore. Or air mixed into it more than you would have in a normal butter, so it spreads easier right out of the fridge. And the 'lighter' version... what does it have? Air again? You pay extra for convenience and air inside (or cheaper plant oils). We only buy the usual block of BUTTER, that has cca 82% milk fat. Unbranded. One doesn't need to blow up their monthly grocery budget in a week, right? The price of many commodities went down but this global conspiracy via price gauging of retail products is disgusting.

Redbull cans with unwashed security tag... what do you think happens with loose cans of any kind in the storage? Rats crawling all over it, peeing over it wherever... don't be delusional. If concerned, wash it before you kiss it or make yourself a coffee, or drink it with a straw. Those pops are quite acidic, save your teeth LOL.

how are you punished by items having security features to prevent shop lifting? The good old credo goes that prevention is better than cure. People watching over customers stealing also cost money and that translates to the prices of goods, as does the theft. You cannot visually catch every thief, but you can hear them when leaving the shop.

@adamduncan6172 Fair point. But how many security guards would you like in a shop to make sure stuff doesn't get stolen? Like one per an isle? In the old times, before the supermarkets, you would be standing in a long queue and waiting to be served with each item by the shop assistant. I think 5 minutes is a bit of exaggeration, but even if two minutes, still a small price to pay for more affordable goods. Besides, how often do you buy a bottle of whiskey that it bothers you? I guess that these shops with even chocolate bars stuck in plastic box, these are the small pop-in shops, not large supermarkets that would make your visit a several hours trip. People normally don't spend too much time in these small shops.

@adamduncan6172 To actually stop a criminal, you need to know they are a criminal. And without seeing them stealing or beeping at the exit (hint: it needs a security tag of some sort), how do you know who to stop? Butter has that sticker that swiped by the cashier it is deactivated, doesn't need removing anything. I get that point when these stickers cover important information. I am not working in such shops so I cannot comment to details, but this is what the society has come to, also the cost of living created more shop lifter who wouldn't be shop lifters before, and some may even have jobs that don't sustain their existence with a pitiful pay. Prisons are full, people even objected when the govt wants to release some less severe criminals ahead of their time... consequences - easier said than done.
