  1.  @vectoralphaSec  Could be another case of social engineering like for the XZ backdoor exploit. You have international teams and deployed foreign workers penetrating society, hitting when you expect it the least. China is particularly skilled in this although RuSSians are not too behind when it comes to cyber crime. Could the malicious/bad code be added at a later stage of testing process?

  3. I like your first part. Interesting thought. For the second one: could it be the code was changed between testing and release? Becoming a massive cyber attack by itself, having a rotten apple in the team.
