@Quantiples The first clause in the Bill of Rights states that “Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion.” Jefferson : Religious institutions that use government power in support of themselves and force their views on persons of other faiths, or of no faith, undermine all our civil rights. Moreover, state support of an established religion tends to make the clergy unresponsive to their own people, and leads to corruption within religion itself. Erecting the 'wall of separation between church and state,' therefore, is absolutely essential in a free society.

@michaelbecker2435 nobody uses Jefferson as an example. you are making stuff up. He just was one of the Founding Fathers. He wrote a bill establishing religious freedom, enacted in 1786. He was an important guy in the founding of the USA. I'm not a fan. He wasn't a perfect human being. Nor am i, nor are you. and he wasn't a christian. tell me what you want. You want a USA that has a preferred religion? let me guess, is it your religion?

@anvil529 nah, not a loose reference. In many many quotes, the Founding Fathers made exactly clear what they wanted. I just give you one more: Adams : The Government of the United States of America is not, in any sense, founded on the C hristian religion.” Can you tell me what you want? Do you want the government to be Christian? to promote christianity? be honest, and be straightforward. tell me exactly what you want.

@Quantiples I know the jefferson quote is not binding. But it explains what Jefferson meant. is he wrong? and thats how several rulings of the SC went. And that was only after WWII, because before that, there wasn't any misconception about the separation of church and state. I knooow what your game is. You want to spout mist. make it blury. but be careful what you wish for. because religious people do'nt understand that one day, there will be a religion that will ban seperation of church and state, and it will not be YOUR religion. and than you wish for seperation of chuch and state. because there is only one beneficiary of seperation of church and state, and that is religious people.

@WilliamPeterson-lk4kz of course will those religious freaks never accept any quotes from the Founding fathers, because they want a theocracy. Just like Boebert says in many speeches. which is strange, because she does a lot of things her god doesn't approve of.
