  10.  @CynicalVy  I don’t envy people struggling to get ahead in that world, that’s for sure. How could it be otherwise though? There are way more academics than there are solutions to extremely complicated problems. How many people in the world of physics vs actual Einsteins, for example.

  11.  @CynicalVy  Genetics and microbiology seem like the most fertile ground for science right now, a field where many could make a serious difference in scientific progress. Astrophysics and related fields also. I find it hard to believe though that a new theory unifying quantum mechanics and general relativity is being prevented because of academic politics and policy, but maybe……
