Instead, his rise was more complex and involved a mix of democratic processes, backroom deals, and political maneuvering. In the last truly free election held in Germany during the Weimar Republic, in November 1932, the Nazi Party (NSDAP) received about 33% of the vote, making them the largest party in the Reichstag but still far from a majority. The German people did not ā€œfreely voteā€ Hitler into dictatorial power, as 67% of voters chose other parties.
