@somchai272 It's a great ideal to strive towards as an individual and even as a family or a larger group. But as an entire modern nation of several hundred million people? With this railroad disaster recently, libertarianism would have absolutely nothing to offer. In fact the railroad originally could not have even been built across the entire country without some kind of federal coordination and even at times funding! Everyone touts Elon musk as a private aerospace service but of course he never could've done what he has done without the federal government already building an entire foundation and infrastructure for space exploration. ... etc etc There isn't even such a thing as a real world example of libertarianism functioning for an entire nation anywhere on earth. What does that say?

@somchai272 Yes. Relative cultural homogeneity and widely shared values that promote both individual rights and the common good in a balanced, rational way are key.

@somchai272 States like Alabama would suffer greatly without Federal assistance (redistribution) , however. Squaring that would be challenging.
