It's not clear at all that a guy pounding aggressively on your door and then saying much later "sheriff's office" is a safe person. I can totally see why he felt like he had to defend himself from something bizarre and crazy going on outside of his door. And the gun was always pointed down towards the floor.

Might as well just skip to the part where the officer is cleared of all wrongdoing forever.

Imagine all the shit that went down without being checked before body cams.

How would he know? All you have to do is watch the video to see that what you are saying makes very little sense.

They didn't. They said "sheriffs office" much later. From the guys perspective he obviously felt like he needed to protect himself from something bizarre and crazy going on in the hallway.

He was prepared to defend himself. Are you serious?

If you watch the video it makes sense why the guy answered the door with a gun in his hand.

Ā @JG-lx5pmĀ oh I get all that. What you are missing is that it was totally not clear that this was a legitimate police officer. He didn't announce himself initially. He only said "sheriffs office". He was pounding like an aggressive crazy person. Put yourself in the airman's place and imagine how you probably would have felt like you needed to be sure to defend yourself if something really crazy was going on in the hallway.

Ā @danielromerosol4158Ā Great point
1
Ā @JG-lx5pmĀ Common sense says don't just emotionally and reactively kill somebody for no good reason.
1
Ā @JG-lx5pmĀ Police are great. This wasn't the greatest example of high quality law enforcement. Pretty straightforward.
1
Ā @JG-lx5pmĀ Yeah, that video would make a great training video for LEOs to learn what NOT to do when information is sparse.
1
Ā @JG-lx5pmĀ That law abiding airman who was killed senselessly was NOT an abuser. Donāt defame the dead.
1
Ā @JG-lx5pmĀ Hahaha. No evidence, lots of imagination. Making stuff up to try to make a point. Sad.
1
Ā @JG-lx5pmĀ You are really something! Stop make terrible things up about people who can no longer defend themselves because they were killed senselessly. Sheesh!
1
Ā @JG-lx5pmĀ You should apologize for defaming the poor guy.
1
Ā @xoPRECISEoxĀ what the video shows it said it was a clearly very confusing situation. Watch it again.

it was "sheriffs office" not police. And he did not say this right away. He just pounded hard on the door aggressively. From the guys perspective he obviously felt like he needed to protect himself from something crazy going on in the hall.

@coryrogers846 they didn't even use the word "police"⦠They said "sheriffs office" which through a door who knows what that must've sounded like. The whole thing was just insane.

Plenty of people who are defending themselves from something crazy going on outside of their door.
