  1. This was a really good puzzle! I had the thought that it might be beneficial for the first player to bet $2 even with a face card to make the second player less sure of things, but ultimately that doesn't make sense and it would only makes things worse for the first player. Like you said, if you are dealt a face card, your choice should be obvious.
