In a nutshell, the FEDs effort to combat inflation is being overpowered by Washington's overspending. Inflation won't be brought under control due to this, but the private sector will be decimated in the interim. Washington is negating the FED. Both are at war against small business.

A good question to ask, how can tax revenues be down by a trillion, m2 going down, deficit spending going up, and GDP going up 5%

@EconLessons have to be brutally honest when looking at these things - everyone is trying to deceive one another and jockeying for position to exploit the situation. We could go through a cycle that rips everything apart. I don't much care to profit while everyone else is impoverished by the system. There is an aspect where people have to be warned about what is coming and I don't see that as positive or negative, I don't really think in those categories, it's very restrictive and wastes a lot of mental effort. Just think and assess the situation based on your current understanding, positive and negative is too polar and black and white, reality is not like this

Credit money is contracting and government spending and debt spending is expanding. Look up how government spending is calculated in GDP. The private sector is weak, there are a handful of tech stocks doing well. The GDP numbers are deceptive they don't tell the full story.

@EconLessons tax revenues down means that a government unwilling to slow spending has to borrow more. I'm down 60% from last year in terms of income - I can compare demand from year to year, demand is gone. So this does me no good. I pay less taxes because income is lower, this is no good. People aren't spending, but the government is spending more. Private sector is being destroyed. We have a system where people's livelihoods have to be decimated to correct the excess of banks and governments.

@EconLessons Look around, I listen to all sorts of people from the private economy and you will get a different picture there. If your proof that the economy is doing well is the GDP number then I have to tell you there is more to it. I've seen all types of numbers and the government wants to paint a rosy picture because they want the spending to continue. There are lies, damned lies and statistics. The consumer is tapped out and personal savings are drying up. This means more of the GDP is debt driven - not counting the effect that government spending and the public sector has on GDP. It would be like me saying stadium of 70k was packed when it was just me going through the turnstyle 70k times. People aren't splurging, they are paying more and getting less and going deeper into debt because the prices are still really high for what they spend money on to survive. Just like with the labor numbers that came out. Full time jobs plummeted and part time jobs increased to take the place. Public sector increased and private sector didn't. It's not a free market, the FED picks winners and loser. Most people are having to feed their families and they are wage slaves, personal innovation isn't helping them, they are faced with brute economic realities.

@EconLessons lookup how China is making incredible amounts of money manufacturing fentanyl and distributing to drug cartels. They use asymmetrical warfare to destroy urban areas. Leaving the borders open is beyond treachery at this point. The fbi is monitoring potential terror cells all throughout America. We are a nation under seige.

@EconLessons I was thinking of a quote from Nietzsche about Diogenes when i said it, "Before one seeks men one must have found the lantern. Will it have to be the lantern of the cynic?", but the Calvinistic idea of total depravity could have inspired the same. Fear, greed, lust for power, corrupted instinct of self preservation, it's all there. As a Christian I have to rise above it, but why should I expect fallen humanity to not exploit one another, it's what they've always done. Maybe Marx was right, but I think many others have spoken at length at man's injustice and evil inclination. People are in God's image but the are corrupted, completely. A redeemed human is good because of Christ but the still carry this fallen propensity for evil. Everyone is capable of formal good, but this is like isaiah said, filthy rags

@EconLessons well, that is the essence of what the argument is about, the extent to which individuals are corrupted by the fall. Some do insist on the island of righteousness left intact, the "divine spark". Others believe the corruption is radical and complete and renders every son of Adam spiritually dead. I believe that the person apart from Christ there is nothing good and I think reality corroborates this, not just scripture. They may bear the image of God but they are dead in trespasses and sin.

@EconLessons if I were to write a book it would be about coming out of an apocalyptic mindset, particularly the historic premillenialism of revelation and the ramifications of a world that is in the grip of various competing apocalyptic distortions. I think Christians many times fear the thought that a book in the Bible could be wrong, but the God portrayed in Revelation never mentions his love for humanity and destroys everyone. I'm sorry the author was tormented but we have inherited a spiritual legacy God never intended

@EconLessons debt to gdp level is primed to explode higher, you're comparing covid Era ratios with a period of unprecedented rate hikes; when those rate hikes kick in and there is 1-2 year lag, watch what happens to the ratio when the spending expands even more and recession hits. They manipulate the hell out of these numbers and the government economists can't be trusted to tell the truth about what is really going on.
