  4. Problem is since 1971 the reserve currency is debt based, backed by our military and opecs willingness to force other countries to purchase oil in dollars. This is no longer the case. In fact Saudi signed mutual protection pact with Russia in 2021 so US is no longer sole ally. The signs are everywhere of the shift that is occurring. I don't think it will happen overnight but it is their stated intention and such a system would essentially flout Washington's ability to steal via the printing press. I believe in profit but precisely not when it comes to credit and the money supply. We have a sacred duty to deny the money changers of this power, a power which they use to abuse the people. They are a very industrious and an aged, traditional culture; they are very hard to be influenced from the outside due to these barriers so everything stays intact. I go to the store each day when doing errands to get the expiring stuff discounted. And my food costs are low due to this. But you can only mitigate so far - I would make the most miserly person dizzy with my frugality. But it's poverty, inflation impoverishes us all and diminishes our standard of living. I am at the bottom, I am the poorest of the working poor and receive no money from the state. I don't have insurance, a family, etc. How do you think inflation effects the working poor? This percentage increases over time and thats a huge problem. How do you resolve that? At some point debt spending does not increase GDP.   28. The petrodollar allows the US to export inflation. OPEC+ is abandoning the arrangements struck in the 70s. This means exporting of inflation won't work in the future. This is will devastate our economy as Washington will have print more and more. You will have to pay more for oil. These is all inflationary. Not to mention the predicament our government is in and their spending and debt load, that is a whole other problem with a deflationary policy. Debt cannot adjust its price in deflation and the government has to repay regardless of the money supply. If your proof that the economy is doing well is the GDP number then I have to tell you there is more to it. The consumer is tapped out and personal savings are drying up. This means more of the GDP is debt driven - not counting the effect that government spending and the public sector has on GDP. People aren't splurging, they are paying more and getting less and going deeper into debt because the prices are still really high for what they spend money on to survive. Most people are having to feed their families and they are wage slaves, personal innovation isn't helping them, they are faced with brute economic realities.

Congress will want the FED to violate the mandate, Powell has already said, no. The only way around this is to revise the law. Lower interest interest rates is not the same as QE or yield curve control, both of which are highly inflationary and a violation of law. You can't presuppose you will have more demand for US debt at lower rates when demand at current rates is failing.

If recession hits and they have to lower interest rate then they will have to monetize the debt and take people's money by inflating the money supply. With commodity backed money it would work differently, i think the inflationary policy fits with the debt based fiat system and what the central planners want to accomplish. I can give countless examples. The effect of this will become more and more evident. One of the main effects is long-term inflation as those dollars repatriate and bid up everything here. They are closely united in their fight against us dollar hegemony. Opec+ is abandoning Bretton woods 2, and the plan is to roll out a gold backed trade currency for the emerging brics alliance. The powers that be in the upper echelons of international finance who have no allegiance to any nation are going to throw their weight behind the new Chinese led alliance, the dollar system will be abandoned and left to burn

  190. we need an abundance of all types of energy, mainly cheap energy, because renewable in and of itself won't help a whole lot because we need ever increasing energy consumption in out debt money paradigm with it's ever growing interest demands. We have to destroy the planet just to satisfy the wet dreams of the people that run the monetary system. “Anyone who believes that exponential growth can go on forever in a finite world is either a madman or an economist” - Ken Boulding -- change the system, then we can talk about sustainability, until then its spitting in the wind.

  191. Problem is lack of oversight, cant just assume corruption wont eat up those funds. Also flooding the international supply of dollars simply dilutes the value of all dollars bidding up the prices of goods even more. Overseas markets that will take dollars are less inclined to play this game of currency dilution. Sure print the money and give it away but at least give some disclosure of what this is doing. As a monetary economist you should be very keen on this issue.

  192.  @EconLessons  I'm not an apocalyptic person, I can easily see a situation where Christ returns in the far future. Unfortunately there is an apocalyptic mindset in minds of the masses that will play itself out in the ugliest manner. The fallout, who knows what will happen, but this collective self fulfilling prophecy is your beast and the element of human depravity, greed and evil will wage war against humanity like something out of the book of revelation. Good does win in the end, but not before gratuitous evil has its time.
