@AdAstra78 People are just totally unrealistic and unreasonable. Its my understanding what saved them from the worst possible scenario was the speed at which the storm was moving. It was faster then they thought it would be so it made landfall before high tide. When storms hit at high tide obviously the height of the storm surge is far worse. Basically this storm beat the tide in thank God. Idk there is any way to predict that. Its always just their best guest, cant reasonably expect more then that.

Anything to say about China, India…Or is it only the West that needs to turn the lights heat and food off for the good of the planet.

That just isnt true. Shelters and free transportation are provided for everyone. Some people do just choose to stay.

It has always changed. The Appalachian mtns do not look like the Rocky mtns because of glaciers. Last I checked we arent all sitting on top of ice so..maybe people need to humble themselves and stop pretending we can control every single freaking thing. These grandiose God complexes always lead to atrocities. Scary times when they start f ing with the food supply in the name of “cc.”

They do. But not every house or building in Florida was built recently. Many were built before they knew how to build better for these conditions. So what, are we supposed to level all of Florida and rebuild every single dated structure to todays standard? Obviously no.

@shamrock141 Right, it was more WHERE it was hitting that was the worst factor. Cat 3, 4 or 5 hitting Tampa Bay is very bad. Thats millions of people and a major city in the bullseye. Sandy was what, a 1 or 2, but it was headed for Manhattan, thats a big problem for obvious reasons.

@shamrock141 Katrina I believe also hit at high tide right? Its My understanding this storm was moving faster then expected and hit before high tide. Had it been slower this could have been another Katrina it seems.
