  1. No one knew it was a plane, they didnt know what happened. This was 2001 before we were glued to phones with internet 24/7. Most people didnt learn it was a plane/planes until long after they got out of the buildings. The majority of people in both buildings, from their vantage point would have had no way of knowing how serious it really was.
