People have the misconception that Medicare applies to every elderly person. That is incorrect. To be elegible for Medicare, first you must have contributed the minimum amount of money/years worked and paid to social security, then you decide if you want to take a social security pay cut to pay for Medicare. Medicare is not just granted to you because you exist and happen to be elderly, so if Medicare was to be "for all" it would have to be for those who choose to pay into it, much like you do when you pay into a private medical coverage, and then because it is the government, it will do what the government does, including for the military, and that is keep costs down by giving you non brand medication, put you on a wait list for surgery, and giving you ibuprofen for most of your health problems
