Although I wasn't there, when the first hominid group came to exist, there were probably a few of them, and had to try to get by through trial and error, and yet they prospered. These people have the advantage of not having to go through the trial and error, thanks to centuries of survival knowledge, so I don't see how they couldn't prosper, specially when they practice and work for these things already
