este tipo lo que a hecho es omitir un monton de informacion y/o simplemente mentir en mucho de lo que dijo para propagar su propaganda a gente de fuera de la isla que son ignorantes y se creen su falacia. aqui te comparto el porque:
It's great that such a large channel is talking about Puerto Rico so that the citizens in the US learn that puertoricans, much like them are US citizens, but, this video completely avoid talking about things to further enhance a bunch of the falcehoods stated in the video.
1. the US didn't "steal" Puerto Rico from spain by claiming it wanted to help with our independence (si soy un puertoruqueño que nacio y se crio en la isla a diferencia de este blanquito). There is this historical even known as the Hispanic American War (look it up), when the US won said war, Spain sold the US a couple of it's territories such as Cuba who soon after asked for independence and was granted it's independence, the Philipines who asked for independence after World war 2 and got it, Guam who much like Pruerto Rico is still a US territory.
2. Puerto Ricans in general were not given the US citizenship before World War 1, only those who were the children of US citizens to begin with were automatically given the citizenship, and it was also given to those who APPLIED for it. It wasn't until after WW1 that any person born in the island was born a US citizen.
3. In the 1950s the people of the island voted to remain as a US territory by supporting el Estado Libre Asociado de Luis Muños Marin (look it up), and ever since then, puertoricans have NEVER voted in favor of independence, as a matter of fact, for about 20 years more people have voted for in favor of the island becoming a state in local elections only, although a huge amount of puertoricans still want to remain a territory because of the following point.
4. The reason why puertoricans much like chamorros in Guam can't vote for the US president is because the "no taxation without representation" and many puertoricans prefer to not be able to vote for the US precident WHILE RECIDING IN THE ISLAND, as long as the don't pay federal income tax yet keep receiving federal aid such as "food sytamps", section 8, have FEMA support, unemployment benefits, WICK plan, and many others.
5. Lastly, also during the time of Luis Muños Marin, the US was in a cold war with the Soviet Union and in order to show the world which economic system was superior, injected and has continued to this day to inject incredibly large ammounts of US dollars in infrastructure in the island, much like the Soviet Union did with Cuba until the 1980s. Tothis day our current living conditions based in income vs cost of living are better than those in the island state of Hawaii.
In summary, this guy esta asquerozamente equivocado and he is thus lying to his ignorant viewers who sren't verdaderos puertoriqueños como yo.

Jimmy, I have a factual example of what it is to have "Medicare for all".
In Puerto Rico we have had "la tarjetita de salud" since the 90s because the governor there was trying to imitate Hillary Clinton's health reform from that decade, and since all we ever do in the island is copy whatever someone comes up with in the main land, we actually passed it and it's been active ever since.
The way it started was you had to select a primary care doctor, and if you need to see a specialist, he would either approve or disapprove your request to see a specialist, you couldn't just go directly to see the specialist, and that still holds up to this day, so you have to wait even longer to be seen for something that is ailing you just because you have to schedule two appointments instead of one, not to mention that the specialist you want to see has to be one of the doctors that actually accepts la tarjetita de salud. Something that changed was that in the past you could get the best medication for the treatment, as in the branded ones, but when that became impossible to pay, they switched to the generic ones.
La tarjetita de salud was supposed to be for low income families/people only, but even those who made a good amount of money (not necessarily a lot) but were originally unbelievable, found a way to "be elegible" because it was "free" as opposed to them having to pay for their own private plan, thus effectively making la tarjetita de salud into "Medicare for all".
All of what I previously mentioned is a big part of the reason why Puerto Rico is bankrupt, and that's not even mentioning other social programs for "special groups" there, but once you give someone something "free" you can never take it away no matter how bad it is for the economy, yet since la tarjetita de salud became unpayable using the local money/taxes, they have kept it running thanks to federal funds taken from the nation's income tax (puertoricans/US citizens residing in the island don't pay federal income tax), so the US tax payer has in recent years been subsidizing a welfare program for people that don't contribute to the nation's federal income tax just so they can get a subpar service they can't maintain at a local level and is a big part of the reason why the island is bankrupt and will likely never be able to pay back it's debt since most young people are fleeing the island and moving to states like Florida.
But you Jimmy, want to bring this "amazing program" into the mainland... Good luck.

what jimmy, his guest and the woman who "got owned" by whoever that guy said to her, to include the guy himself, fail to understand is that china is using the debt trap. it is true that these african nations may need certain things like roads, bridges, airports, etc to be built; knowing this china offers to build them these things using chinese workers, by doing this, the local economy isn't boosted since no local workers are employed in the construction work, and then when X nation that needed Y thing that was built by china can't pay back (as they obviously were never going to be able to pay) whatever that Y thing that was built was, china takes full control over it and "colonizes" that piece of land, so china gets to use it as they see fit.

for those of you who like jimmy, think the government can do a better job with running a power company and healthcare, I have a story for you. in Puerto Rico we have la Autoridad de Energia Electrica, this had been a 100% government monopoly since it started back in the early 1900's. since electricity is a necessity, the government knew they would see a steady flow of money comming from everyone who used it (minus those people who steal it in places like la perla for example). because of what I previously mentionned, every time a new governor came with a plan to make some big shit, if they didn't have the money from what they collected in local "state" taxes, they knew they could always resort to borrowing money from la AEE, make the big shit, and pay it back, but at some point they started running out of money to borrow from la AEE, so they started borrowing money from people's pensions. as the government borrowed more money from the monopoly known as la AEE, and people's pensions in order to make big shits, they defaulted the government and ruined the essential monopoly of la AEE to the point that for 60 years, the grid and power stations didn't get properly maintained, and power would go out with a little rain. then comes huricane cathegory 5 maria, and it further destroyed that which was being held by "glue and gum", and then people realized what the government had done to their essential AEE and begged for it to be sold to a private company. parto of la AEE was sold to LUMA, the portion related to the distribution of wlectricity (if I remember correctly), this was done about a year ago or so, and people expect to have a fully functionning power company with the quickness, forgetting all the damage that was done to it for about 60 years, and because 60 years of damage haven't been fixed in about a 1 year time span, people are resorting to be independent (good for them), and are installing solar pannels on their houses, or they have a small power generator.
now for the health care portion of the story. in mid 1990's when hillary clinton was trying to pass a single payer healthcare system and failed, the local governor pedro rosello made it happen in puerto rico. the governor created la tarjetita de salud, and this tarjetita was only supposed to be given to those with low income, but you know that when people know they can get something for "free" they will do everything in their power to get it, so a lot of people that where supposed to be unelegible for it, got it. having such a large ammount of people use a "government" funded healthcare service, made it so that the government had to put controls to slow down the money spending, and so now if you had a medical condition that required a specialist, first you had to go see a primary care doctor, and then he would decide if you would in fact go see a specialist, and if you did, you would likely wait months in order to get to see your specialist. the government still ran out of money to provide la tarjetita, so the local government had to beg the federal government to send federal income taxpayer money to pay for la tarjetita that is used by residents of puerto rico, and since puerto rico is not a state, the people that reside in puerto rico don't pay federal income tax, so the nation's federal income taxpayers are paying to fund a broke tarjetita for people who do not pay federal income tax.
the moral of the story is, government sucks at mannaging things whether they are essential or not, and takers will take whether they give back or not, and thus things (governments) go broke. don't be a socialist.

@maric24 I'm all on board with not getting involved in wars, specially those that don't concern my nation, but every nation needs their own military to defend themselves when the time comes, because we don't live in a rainbows and lollipop world where everyone thinks alike. Other countries lean on the US and its military, and instead of paying the UN agreed yearly percentage of military spending to defend themselves of foreign and domestic crisis, choose to spend that money on other things in a local level, and I agree with that, you have to look for your (nation) own well being (MAGA), but when the crisis comes, they shouldn't expect daddy US to come save them. Me being a person that doesn't agree with loans and only paying for that which you can afford and need, don't agree with deficit spending

+Luigi999 fuck no! as the owner of a nes, snes, gc, wii with it's classic controller pro, ps1,2,3, xbox 360, sega genesis with the 3 and 6 button controllers and last but not least sega saturn; the worst controller has to be the GC's followed by the 360's.
the GC controller has a ridiculously tiny (even for my tiny hands) dpad, the weird shape buttons and it's placement, the shoulder buttons that go a mile down when pressed and the no words to describe C "joystick" are awful.
the 360 controller has a horrible dpad (even worse than the GC's), crap trigger buttons (though to be honest I don't like trigger buttons in any console) and the battery compartment that sticks out instead of being nice and flush like the One's make the controller awful.
as a fighting game player and old school action game gamer those controllers are terrible, they are better suited for JRPGs, or slower pace games IMO.

avedic a Persian man that was presenting the gold iphone 5s once said "gold is best! best, best, best!". "normal" is the new gold. I mean, when you think about "normal" you think all the best stuff, jet ski, nice watch, sports car,.... shrimp. "man culture" is best, "masculine" is best, "very very average" is best, "being like me" is best, "my brain" is best.
you would like to say that regardless of any particular preference we all are the same but NO, NO, NO! "normal" is best! "normal" is best! "normal" is best! boom boom!
you know, you know, you are on the deck of a boat and there's a hot lady on this arm, a hot lady on that arm, champagne cocktail, dance beat is going good. DJ says, hey! Danusty, only the hottest tracks for you, and you are like "hey buddy! you are the best!"
"normal" is best!..... BEST, BEST, BEST!

has any of the up votes thought about this: medicare is an ideal option to the elderly paid by a portion (should you chose it) of wha you would normally receive from your social security and the reason why it's ideal, it's because besides the point of being optional, you are elderly and as he said, elderly people need more medical care than young people. having said that, for a "medicare" for all to actually work, you would have to make it mandatory so that the young and healthy can forcefully subsidize the elderly or the sick for they may not only not work but also may not have contributed enough to social security to be able to receive it and pay for it themselves. if you make it optional, what would stop the young from doing the netflix thing, and pay for it when they need it (when they are sick/"the new season of stranger things starts") and drop it when they no longer need it? also, if I don't need something, how can you force me to pay for something I don't need or want specially when I as the individual that I am, by not choosing to pay for it, am not affecting anyone else in the process, and if you do think so, then you'd know what I said earlier is true, you are forcing me to subsidize others, and much like I don't feel like paying for your so important to modern life utilities, I don't feel like subsidizing your life in general, much like you wouldn't want to subsidize mine, let us subsidize only those we want to subsidize (our loved ones).

@E_Clampus_Vitus I have never heard of an average joe (not an escaping politician) anywhere in the world, much less the US move to a place that does not offer personal freedoms. many expats leave the US so they don't have to pay taxes, and/or live in a place where their dollar is going to get farther (places like the Philippines). having said that, no average joe other than Alejandro Cao de Benós de Les y Pérez (look him up), moves to a place like North Korea, pakistan, afghanistan, iran, irak, syria, gaza itself, somalia, libia, venezuela, nicaragua, cuba, to name a few, even though in such places the US dollar much like in the Philippines, goes farther.

@E_Clampus_Vitus I don't know if my previous answer posted for I can't see it, so here it goes again:
I have never heard of an average joe defect the US or any other country for that matter, other than Alejandro Cao de Benós de Les y Pérez in North Corea (look him up) or a fleeing politician, move into a place like North Corea, pakistan, syria, iran, irak, gaza itself, somalia, libia, venezuela, nicaragua, cuba, to name a few. when your average joe in the US moves (not defect), they usually move to a place where their dollars goes farther and they don't have to pay the US federal income tax, and even though they could move to the above places, they move to places like the Philipines instead, because they still have freedoms similar to those in the US.

I'm approaching 40, I hated ep 2 when I watched it back in the early 2000s, rewatched it recently and I really liked it after all this years. I've always loved episodes 3, 4, 5, and 6, ep 1 would be good if it didn't have young anakin, jar jar or the pod race, ep 7 is pretty average, ep 8 is pure garbage and so is rogue one, solo is good.

Although the professor is right about being against us ever having gone into Iraq, and intervened militarily in other Middle Eastern/North Africa nations, and I do agree there is racism in the US with every race (including whites) being racist towards whites, every race (minus blacks) being racist towards blacks, and blacks being racist towards asians and whites (and this is coming from a born and raised puertorican mind you). When it comes to Venezuela, the sanctions are justified and they are not against the civilian population, but against the illegitimate Venezuelan government.
First of all Chavez nationalized private industries without remunerating the owners when the government overtook their private businesses, and he did this when he saw his socialist utopia wasn't going to go anywhere with the continuous devaluation of their only industry (oil), then when maduro got appointed to be Chavez successor by Chaves himself as he was dying, Maduro made sure to create new government positions that would do the same thing and supercede legitimate and official government positions in order to further cement his stay in power, and also by unilaterally changing election rules (sounds familiar?) that would guarantee his reelections.
Getting out of the Paris climate accord was the correct thing to do since the US has some of the cleanest air and it was achieved through local government legislation, not through foreign interference. All while China has some of the dirtiest air quality and they are in the same accord all while they open more coal power plants, because China can do whatever it wants and no greta will come and criticize them ($$$$$$$). HOW DARE ME?!
The US north American trade deal was signed by Canada and Mexico, but the world complains if the US puts tariffs on their goods, all while they put tariffs on US goods.
There was an "insurrection" in January 6 where no civilian was armed and no federal employee got killed by civilian hands, yet the only person who was killed was due to a gun shot from a black federal employee towards a white unharmed woman, and his name is purposely not revealed to the public.
Blacks are incarcerated more than all the other races because 13% of the population commit over 40% of the violent crimes. And yes there are racial supremacists in the US, such as Louis Farrakhan and his followers (such as the black man who recently ran over a cop in the US capitol and went out to commit stabbings)
But we can't talk about china's human rights abuses and their uighur concentration camps, forced labor and forced "fetus elimination" right? $$$$$$$$
What a useful idiot that professor is. He'll be one of the first to be eliminated by the government he helped promoted once his socialist "utopia" takes over his nation.

@maric24 well, let's see, you don't want to have a large military or be the police of the world, but through the use of the military, specially the navy, aid gets distributed around the world, I assume you are from the US and even if you weren't, the US Navy is used to guarantee the commercial shipping lanes, other branches are used to "dethrone" people that "oppress" the people you want to "help", cause "we are" a "global community" cause I forgot that we all think alike, and you want to use that money from the non or minimal military you want, to help ourselves with "universal" things. Do you not see how your rhetoric is full of incongruences? Me on the other hand, I want is to use my own money on whatever I want with limited taxation for things like a strong military to defend ourselves in case of foreign and domestic crisis and by foreign I mean, other powerful nations such as China decide to get bellicose with us. Let all the other nations fend for themselves, or pay the stronger ones for defense as opposed to stronger ones send them foreign aid or mess with them, and since we are in the topic of letting others fend for themselves, fend for yourself and pay for your own NEEDS and WANTS, let others do what they want with what they earn and if others want to donate to you for your healthcare and/or hopefully useful education, they can freely choose to do so, much like they can freely choose to send aid to foreign lands

I know no one will read all of this but.... for the love of God! Puerto Rico is not a country, it's a US territory! people like me born in Puerto Rico are born US citizens much like the people of Guam (a smaller island where there is also a minimum wage), Saipan (an even smaller island), and others. I'm not trying to defend minimum wage here but the truth is there are various reasons why Puerto Rico's economy failed. 1. the loss of 936, which was established by the US to boost the economy of Puerto Rico while it was in the cold war with Russia, trying to prove the rest of the world that Puerto Rico (with the US backing) would succeed and develop more than Cuba (with Russian backing), by excepting federal taxes in US companies establishing themselves in PR; with the cold war done, so was 936 by the end of the 90s.
2. multi party (from the 3 major parties in PR) decision to kick the NAVY out of their base in Fajardo, PR, and Vieques, after some random puerto rican civilian security, fully knowing he wasn't supposed to enter a restricted area, decided to enter said area where live ordnance was tested and he got himself killed, this became a political issue followed by all 3 PR governor candidates and with that, the NAVY decided to leave the island, this made PR lose the billions of dollars the military economy brought the island every year.
3. the implementation of highly unsustainable social programs like single payer healthcare by the end of the 90s, whereas said Hillary proposal failed federally, it was implemented by the local governor in PR. add to that the subsidies in power, water, housing to "less fortunate people" all for political gain, and the development of very expensive/big projects that in concept are good but in practice due to the way they are implemented, fail.
4. the local government's own decision to take loans ("bonos") to keep running it's huge government as if nothing had happened after the loss of 936 and the NAVY. taking loans with ridiculous fees in them once PRs credit got devalued to garbage levels. taking loans on government retiree's retirement money, none of which can be repayed by the PR government.
5. people in government and private business owners with government associate's corruption.
6. puerto rican's own decision not to want to become a state because they'd rather have no representation, so long as the have no taxation (in the federal income tax sense). every time a status referendum has been made, the puerto rican people have voted for nonsensical options that lead the island nowhere and even during the last referendum, most people decided not to vote on an island that is known for their large percentage of active voters in every election.
it is true that in today's global market, having a minimum wage makes PR a less desirable destination for private industry when compared to neighbors like the ones from the Dominican Republic, who may not have as high a level of education as the people of PR but do have a much lower pay generally speaking than even those under minimum wage in PR; but to say that the minimum wage is the reason why PR is fucked is false, PR is fucked mostly due to the puerto rican people's own decisions and political practices.

@Mark28644 I'll start by talking about your last comment. Where did I state that soviet Russia was still around? I said Cuba depended on two failed nations/systems, soviet Russia and Venezuela. In regards to the nations always prefer to trade with their nearest neighbors, must be why Cuba allied to soviet Russia in regards to the US having the biggest (individual) economy, that's why Cuba has 194 nations to do business with. In regards to capitalism making the rich richer and the poor poorer, must be why in that system average Joe's (in the past) such as Bill gates and zuckerberga became billionaires, whereas you don't ever see that in nations that properly implement the socialist system such as Cuba, Venezuela, Bolivia, Nicaragua, etc, where their leaders became multi millionaires while the plebe live the socialist "utopia" (are poor)

owning a piece of a company and having unions are two diferent things. you can own a piece of your company if you invest in it/buy shares, anyone can do that, or you can straight up make your own business and the the only owner or partner up and have various owners. for those who love unions however, I have a story for you.
Puerto Rico had a 100% monopoly with its power company (la Autoridad de Energia Electrica), the puertorican government had this essential monopoly from the early 1900s to about a year ago or so when it became a private/public company. during the time la AEE was fully owned by the government, they had a union called la UTIER, since la AEE was an essential monopoly, every time la UTIER felt like asking for a raise, they would protest and would stop those who freely felt like going to work from entering the AEE power plants, and in the end la UTIER would get the raise they felt they were owed. the government couldn't get rid of la UTIER because governments are not able to get rid of unions that work for the public sector. every time la UTIER got a raise, the people of Puerto Rico saw an increase in the ammount of money they paid for electricity, because as you guys know, no company, not even those owned by a government are going to absorb the cost of having to pay an employee more per hour, the cost is always passed unto the people. the worst part however was that during the time la AEE was fully owned by the puertorican government, la UTIER barely maintained it, and the grid became so frail that the slightest bit of rain would cause large portions of the island to lose power, in addition to the fact that because this company was publicly owned, the local governmet kept taking loans from the money they thought they would earn from la AEE per year, to the point where la AEE became bankrupt, as in an essential monopoly went bankrupt.
the lesson of the story, don't be a socialist.

explanation of a US liberal mind: the US is a land with limited resources, the planet has vast but limited resources spread out amongst it's five continents, minor islands, and Australia, but let's move everyone who wants to for whatever reason, move to the US, just because people in the US have been smart managing their limited resources and done well for themselves, and as we empty out the US resources by moving everyone from around the world to this one specific spot (US), the rest of the planets resources remain untouched, so that we all can open borders move to the next place and do the same, and then the next place and do the same, because that makes sense.

yes, again they used the nukes that ended the war in the pacific. I guess you would have been fine if the war would have kept going indefinitely, also, as I said, not the last nation to ever use weapons of mass destruction against others and/or their own but you don't seem to know anything about that. "number 1 warmongering country" I'd believe that if only they started the conflicts and/or went to each conflict alone and not with a coalition of nations with them some of which have included britain, france, germany, and others. next time you talk about things against one nation in particular, make sure others don't fall under the same exact category, and or have similar historical facts against them, otherwise, you'll look like a biased whiner who knows nothing of what he is trying to talk about
1
-
historical facts are historical facts and you clearly know nothing about history, proven by the conversation we've been having. to say that japan was no threat to the US is ridiculous, specially when japan was the one who dragged the US into the war, they obviously thought they were big enough of a threat when they dared to attack the US by surprise. " Using excessive force in totally unnecessary events makes any country the scam. The biggest in recent decades it's been your country." bro, that happened in the mid 40's, about 7 decades ago, in the meantime, other nations have used weapons of mass destruction against other nations and against their own people in actual recent years, not even decades ago, but you as the biased whiner that you are, either are a mediocre who doesn't know about that (well, you obviously don't know history after all), or you are a hypocrite for you refuse to acknowledge such actions fully knowing the truth just cause it goes against your bias against the US.
1
-
to be honest, other nations hate the successful ones, much like they hate china for their ridiculous economic deals that have propelled them to the top while the rest of the world can't compete with them, it's all jealousy. having said that, do I believe the US, much like numerous european nations involve themselves too much in other people's business and thus are spending too much tax payer money in other parts of the world vice it's own people/nation? yes, however, I'm also not for the nanny state that spends it's resources in handouts, I'd much rather keep my own money for myself and use it on whatever I want to use it, as opposed to be taxed for everything I do while in life and the afterlife just so my money can be wasted on other people who are not willing to take care of themselves cause the nanny state feeds them, clothes them and shelters them while they don't contribute to society themselves.
1
-
The US does spend millions and millions of dollars in foreign aid every year, that is a fact that can be easily found online. "Let's invade Vietnam, Pakistan, Afganistan, Libia, Iraq... North Korea next?" are you talking here about things that have been done in the past with a coalition of mostly european nations? "Or get something out of these wars for American public?" these conflicts are not fought by the US alone but with a coalition of nations alongside with the US, ask them the same question, however this conflicts are not fought with the people's interest in mind but that of the nations getting involved in the conflict. "Can't the US really beat countries of farmers with sticks?" what sticks? you do know that a lot of today's conflicts are not fought against another nation's military that follow the geneva convention nor the rules of war, the fight is against terrorists who do whatever they can in order to kill including bombing themselves. "American warmongering" shows your bias cause you fail to acknowledge all the other nations that do the exact same thing, again, the european union. "Nobody hates the US success as there is not much there in that regard." really? because the US, alongside china are not the biggest economic powers in the world, right "buddy"?
1
-
"the US spends amounts that exceed 8 following countries combined on military." yes, the US does spends too much on military along with other local expenses for which I do not agree, as I mentioned earlier, I don't want to be taxed for everything in this life and the afterlife, my money should be mine to do with it what I want, when I want. "Don't gives a toss about Americans healthcare for example." exactly, because as I said, I don't want my money to be taxed and utilized on others, my money should be for me to use on myself and my loved ones. "That's far different from EU countries that you keep mentioning." good! "These countries are dragged into these wars because of NATO. It's the US who triggers them." absolutely false, you do know that NATO is composed of many nations and they all don't get themselves involved in armed conflict because ONE of them wants to do it, or are you saying that those european nations that go along with the US are doing so because they are the US puppets? do you even realize what you say? "US used to be the biggest economy mostly to the military industry. Becoming more of a debtinomy in recent years. " the US along china are the biggest world economies, also, how many nations work with a ZERO debt economy? you have to spend money to make money as they say. "The US knows well enough not to stop this warmongering going on as there is not much left to feed this warmongering nation nature." tell that to the european nations that always go along with the US on whatever they all want to get involve in, but your bias won't let you. "To plant fictive enemies into simple American brains is a less of an issue since American public is exposed to media brainwash" true, the mainstream media is full of fake news, which is why they are a dying media.

People have the misconception that Medicare applies to every elderly person. That is incorrect. To be elegible for Medicare, first you must have contributed the minimum amount of money/years worked and paid to social security, then you decide if you want to take a social security pay cut to pay for Medicare. Medicare is not just granted to you because you exist and happen to be elderly, so if Medicare was to be "for all" it would have to be for those who choose to pay into it, much like you do when you pay into a private medical coverage, and then because it is the government, it will do what the government does, including for the military, and that is keep costs down by giving you non brand medication, put you on a wait list for surgery, and giving you ibuprofen for most of your health problems
