  39. este tipo lo que a hecho es omitir un monton de informacion y/o simplemente mentir en mucho de lo que dijo para propagar su propaganda a gente de fuera de la isla que son ignorantes y se creen su falacia. aqui te comparto el porque: It's great that such a large channel is talking about Puerto Rico so that the citizens in the US learn that puertoricans, much like them are US citizens, but, this video completely avoid talking about things to further enhance a bunch of the falcehoods stated in the video. 1. the US didn't "steal" Puerto Rico from spain by claiming it wanted to help with our independence (si soy un puertoruqueño que nacio y se crio en la isla a diferencia de este blanquito). There is this historical even known as the Hispanic American War (look it up), when the US won said war, Spain sold the US a couple of it's territories such as Cuba who soon after asked for independence and was granted it's independence, the Philipines who asked for independence after World war 2 and got it, Guam who much like Pruerto Rico is still a US territory. 2. Puerto Ricans in general were not given the US citizenship before World War 1, only those who were the children of US citizens to begin with were automatically given the citizenship, and it was also given to those who APPLIED for it. It wasn't until after WW1 that any person born in the island was born a US citizen. 3. In the 1950s the people of the island voted to remain as a US territory by supporting el Estado Libre Asociado de Luis Muños Marin (look it up), and ever since then, puertoricans have NEVER voted in favor of independence, as a matter of fact, for about 20 years more people have voted for in favor of the island becoming a state in local elections only, although a huge amount of puertoricans still want to remain a territory because of the following point. 4. The reason why puertoricans much like chamorros in Guam can't vote for the US president is because the "no taxation without representation" and many puertoricans prefer to not be able to vote for the US precident WHILE RECIDING IN THE ISLAND, as long as the don't pay federal income tax yet keep receiving federal aid such as "food sytamps", section 8, have FEMA support, unemployment benefits, WICK plan, and many others. 5. Lastly, also during the time of Luis Muños Marin, the US was in a cold war with the Soviet Union and in order to show the world which economic system was superior, injected and has continued to this day to inject incredibly large ammounts of US dollars in infrastructure in the island, much like the Soviet Union did with Cuba until the 1980s. Tothis day our current living conditions based in income vs cost of living are better than those in the island state of Hawaii. In summary, this guy esta asquerozamente equivocado and he is thus lying to his ignorant viewers who sren't verdaderos puertoriqueños como yo.

  70. I am a very conservative man but I have always admitted the cost of higher education in the US is ridiculously high, so I have a couple of proposals for the education system and/or the students: 1. even though there are non for profit universities, in the end we know they are all for profit and since sports is so ridiculously important in the US, a lot of the huge sports related universities income could be used to not only pay for the ridiculously nice buildings, technology and employees but also lower the student fees instead of "getting the cake and eating it too", this way the government doesn't have to subsidize public or private higher education. 2. have the students go to technical schools that actually teach you how to do an actual job (as opposed to studying something like gender studies) for much less; these technical jobs are very needed in every society and can lead to the students becoming their own boss while creating their own private businesses in whatever they learned in that technical school. some of these technical jobs although "dirty" (dirty jobs reference) can pay a lot of money if you are willing to actually work. 3. do what Elizabeth Warren, Rachel Dolezal and Vijay Chokalingam did; that is pretend to be a native american like Elizabeth did (hence her name being Pocahontas) or pretend to be black like Rachel and Vijay did an take advantage of the government's "very effective" program known as affirmative action. 4. take the blue pill and believe whatever fantasy Bernie Sanders tells you and stay in the matrix.

  87. Jimmy, I have a factual example of what it is to have "Medicare for all". In Puerto Rico we have had "la tarjetita de salud" since the 90s because the governor there was trying to imitate Hillary Clinton's health reform from that decade, and since all we ever do in the island is copy whatever someone comes up with in the main land, we actually passed it and it's been active ever since. The way it started was you had to select a primary care doctor, and if you need to see a specialist, he would either approve or disapprove your request to see a specialist, you couldn't just go directly to see the specialist, and that still holds up to this day, so you have to wait even longer to be seen for something that is ailing you just because you have to schedule two appointments instead of one, not to mention that the specialist you want to see has to be one of the doctors that actually accepts la tarjetita de salud. Something that changed was that in the past you could get the best medication for the treatment, as in the branded ones, but when that became impossible to pay, they switched to the generic ones. La tarjetita de salud was supposed to be for low income families/people only, but even those who made a good amount of money (not necessarily a lot) but were originally unbelievable, found a way to "be elegible" because it was "free" as opposed to them having to pay for their own private plan, thus effectively making la tarjetita de salud into "Medicare for all". All of what I previously mentioned is a big part of the reason why Puerto Rico is bankrupt, and that's not even mentioning other social programs for "special groups" there, but once you give someone something "free" you can never take it away no matter how bad it is for the economy, yet since la tarjetita de salud became unpayable using the local money/taxes, they have kept it running thanks to federal funds taken from the nation's income tax (puertoricans/US citizens residing in the island don't pay federal income tax), so the US tax payer has in recent years been subsidizing a welfare program for people that don't contribute to the nation's federal income tax just so they can get a subpar service they can't maintain at a local level and is a big part of the reason why the island is bankrupt and will likely never be able to pay back it's debt since most young people are fleeing the island and moving to states like Florida. But you Jimmy, want to bring this "amazing program" into the mainland... Good luck.

  225. for those of you who like jimmy, think the government can do a better job with running a power company and healthcare, I have a story for you. in Puerto Rico we have la Autoridad de Energia Electrica, this had been a 100% government monopoly since it started back in the early 1900's. since electricity is a necessity, the government knew they would see a steady flow of money comming from everyone who used it (minus those people who steal it in places like la perla for example). because of what I previously mentionned, every time a new governor came with a plan to make some big shit, if they didn't have the money from what they collected in local "state" taxes, they knew they could always resort to borrowing money from la AEE, make the big shit, and pay it back, but at some point they started running out of money to borrow from la AEE, so they started borrowing money from people's pensions. as the government borrowed more money from the monopoly known as la AEE, and people's pensions in order to make big shits, they defaulted the government and ruined the essential monopoly of la AEE to the point that for 60 years, the grid and power stations didn't get properly maintained, and power would go out with a little rain. then comes huricane cathegory 5 maria, and it further destroyed that which was being held by "glue and gum", and then people realized what the government had done to their essential AEE and begged for it to be sold to a private company. parto of la AEE was sold to LUMA, the portion related to the distribution of wlectricity (if I remember correctly), this was done about a year ago or so, and people expect to have a fully functionning power company with the quickness, forgetting all the damage that was done to it for about 60 years, and because 60 years of damage haven't been fixed in about a 1 year time span, people are resorting to be independent (good for them), and are installing solar pannels on their houses, or they have a small power generator. now for the health care portion of the story. in mid 1990's when hillary clinton was trying to pass a single payer healthcare system and failed, the local governor pedro rosello made it happen in puerto rico. the governor created la tarjetita de salud, and this tarjetita was only supposed to be given to those with low income, but you know that when people know they can get something for "free" they will do everything in their power to get it, so a lot of people that where supposed to be unelegible for it, got it. having such a large ammount of people use a "government" funded healthcare service, made it so that the government had to put controls to slow down the money spending, and so now if you had a medical condition that required a specialist, first you had to go see a primary care doctor, and then he would decide if you would in fact go see a specialist, and if you did, you would likely wait months in order to get to see your specialist. the government still ran out of money to provide la tarjetita, so the local government had to beg the federal government to send federal income taxpayer money to pay for la tarjetita that is used by residents of puerto rico, and since puerto rico is not a state, the people that reside in puerto rico don't pay federal income tax, so the nation's federal income taxpayers are paying to fund a broke tarjetita for people who do not pay federal income tax. the moral of the story is, government sucks at mannaging things whether they are essential or not, and takers will take whether they give back or not, and thus things (governments) go broke. don't be a socialist.

  716. Although the professor is right about being against us ever having gone into Iraq, and intervened militarily in other Middle Eastern/North Africa nations, and I do agree there is racism in the US with every race (including whites) being racist towards whites, every race (minus blacks) being racist towards blacks, and blacks being racist towards asians and whites (and this is coming from a born and raised puertorican mind you). When it comes to Venezuela, the sanctions are justified and they are not against the civilian population, but against the illegitimate Venezuelan government. First of all Chavez nationalized private industries without remunerating the owners when the government overtook their private businesses, and he did this when he saw his socialist utopia wasn't going to go anywhere with the continuous devaluation of their only industry (oil), then when maduro got appointed to be Chavez successor by Chaves himself as he was dying, Maduro made sure to create new government positions that would do the same thing and supercede legitimate and official government positions in order to further cement his stay in power, and also by unilaterally changing election rules (sounds familiar?) that would guarantee his reelections. Getting out of the Paris climate accord was the correct thing to do since the US has some of the cleanest air and it was achieved through local government legislation, not through foreign interference. All while China has some of the dirtiest air quality and they are in the same accord all while they open more coal power plants, because China can do whatever it wants and no greta will come and criticize them ($$$$$$$). HOW DARE ME?! The US north American trade deal was signed by Canada and Mexico, but the world complains if the US puts tariffs on their goods, all while they put tariffs on US goods. There was an "insurrection" in January 6 where no civilian was armed and no federal employee got killed by civilian hands, yet the only person who was killed was due to a gun shot from a black federal employee towards a white unharmed woman, and his name is purposely not revealed to the public. Blacks are incarcerated more than all the other races because 13% of the population commit over 40% of the violent crimes. And yes there are racial supremacists in the US, such as Louis Farrakhan and his followers (such as the black man who recently ran over a cop in the US capitol and went out to commit stabbings) But we can't talk about china's human rights abuses and their uighur concentration camps, forced labor and forced "fetus elimination" right? $$$$$$$$ What a useful idiot that professor is. He'll be one of the first to be eliminated by the government he helped promoted once his socialist "utopia" takes over his nation.

  802. I know no one will read all of this but.... for the love of God! Puerto Rico is not a country, it's a US territory! people like me born in Puerto Rico are born US citizens much like the people of Guam (a smaller island where there is also a minimum wage), Saipan (an even smaller island), and others. I'm not trying to defend minimum wage here but the truth is there are various reasons why Puerto Rico's economy failed. 1. the loss of 936, which was established by the US to boost the economy of Puerto Rico while it was in the cold war with Russia, trying to prove the rest of the world that Puerto Rico (with the US backing) would succeed and develop more than Cuba (with Russian backing), by excepting federal taxes in US companies establishing themselves in PR; with the cold war done, so was 936 by the end of the 90s. 2. multi party (from the 3 major parties in PR) decision to kick the NAVY out of their base in Fajardo, PR, and Vieques, after some random puerto rican civilian security, fully knowing he wasn't supposed to enter a restricted area, decided to enter said area where live ordnance was tested and he got himself killed, this became a political issue followed by all 3 PR governor candidates and with that, the NAVY decided to leave the island, this made PR lose the billions of dollars the military economy brought the island every year. 3. the implementation of highly unsustainable social programs like single payer healthcare by the end of the 90s, whereas said Hillary proposal failed federally, it was implemented by the local governor in PR. add to that the subsidies in power, water, housing to "less fortunate people" all for political gain, and the development of very expensive/big projects that in concept are good but in practice due to the way they are implemented, fail. 4. the local government's own decision to take loans ("bonos") to keep running it's huge government as if nothing had happened after the loss of 936 and the NAVY. taking loans with ridiculous fees in them once PRs credit got devalued to garbage levels. taking loans on government retiree's retirement money, none of which can be repayed by the PR government. 5. people in government and private business owners with government associate's corruption. 6. puerto rican's own decision not to want to become a state because they'd rather have no representation, so long as the have no taxation (in the federal income tax sense). every time a status referendum has been made, the puerto rican people have voted for nonsensical options that lead the island nowhere and even during the last referendum, most people decided not to vote on an island that is known for their large percentage of active voters in every election. it is true that in today's global market, having a minimum wage makes PR a less desirable destination for private industry when compared to neighbors like the ones from the Dominican Republic, who may not have as high a level of education as the people of PR but do have a much lower pay generally speaking than even those under minimum wage in PR; but to say that the minimum wage is the reason why PR is fucked is false, PR is fucked mostly due to the puerto rican people's own decisions and political practices.

  894. owning a piece of a company and having unions are two diferent things. you can own a piece of your company if you invest in it/buy shares, anyone can do that, or you can straight up make your own business and the the only owner or partner up and have various owners. for those who love unions however, I have a story for you. Puerto Rico had a 100% monopoly with its power company (la Autoridad de Energia Electrica), the puertorican government had this essential monopoly from the early 1900s to about a year ago or so when it became a private/public company. during the time la AEE was fully owned by the government, they had a union called la UTIER, since la AEE was an essential monopoly, every time la UTIER felt like asking for a raise, they would protest and would stop those who freely felt like going to work from entering the AEE power plants, and in the end la UTIER would get the raise they felt they were owed. the government couldn't get rid of la UTIER because governments are not able to get rid of unions that work for the public sector. every time la UTIER got a raise, the people of Puerto Rico saw an increase in the ammount of money they paid for electricity, because as you guys know, no company, not even those owned by a government are going to absorb the cost of having to pay an employee more per hour, the cost is always passed unto the people. the worst part however was that during the time la AEE was fully owned by the puertorican government, la UTIER barely maintained it, and the grid became so frail that the slightest bit of rain would cause large portions of the island to lose power, in addition to the fact that because this company was publicly owned, the local governmet kept taking loans from the money they thought they would earn from la AEE per year, to the point where la AEE became bankrupt, as in an essential monopoly went bankrupt. the lesson of the story, don't be a socialist.

1039. "the US spends amounts that exceed 8 following countries combined on military." yes, the US does spends too much on military along with other local expenses for which I do not agree, as I mentioned earlier, I don't want to be taxed for everything in this life and the afterlife, my money should be mine to do with it what I want, when I want. "Don't gives a toss about Americans healthcare for example." exactly, because as I said, I don't want my money to be taxed and utilized on others, my money should be for me to use on myself and my loved ones. "That's far different from EU countries that you keep mentioning." good! "These countries are dragged into these wars because of NATO. It's the US who triggers them." absolutely false, you do know that NATO is composed of many nations and they all don't get themselves involved in armed conflict because ONE of them wants to do it, or are you saying that those european nations that go along with the US are doing so because they are the US puppets? do you even realize what you say? "US used to be the biggest economy mostly to the military industry. Becoming more of a debtinomy in recent years. " the US along china are the biggest world economies, also, how many nations work with a ZERO debt economy? you have to spend money to make money as they say. "The US knows well enough not to stop this warmongering going on as there is not much left to feed this warmongering nation nature." tell that to the european nations that always go along with the US on whatever they all want to get involve in, but your bias won't let you. "To plant fictive enemies into simple American brains is a less of an issue since American public is exposed to media brainwash" true, the mainstream media is full of fake news, which is why they are a dying media.
