@woooooooo9061 Most assaults in the mental hospital are patients assaulting staff but you are willfully ignorant if you think staff never assault patients. It is rare but it happens.

@woooooooo9061 And the guy was not fired. My case manager came to visit and was really angry when she heard about it and saw the back of my shirt ruined from being dragged over the dirt. She told the higher ups. I had called the posted number to call if you are abused. I left a message but they never called back.

@woooooooo9061 I was grabbed by the wrist and dragged over the ground by one arm for going outside without permission. I would not consider most restraints to be assault. I was restrained once for a suicide attempt when I was younger. I don't agree that all mentally ill people should go to jail for violence. It depends if they are psychotic or not. But if people are not psychotic jail should be looked into. I could not work at a mental hospital because the patients are too violent. The hospitals I was in had cameras in the main areas but not the rooms. I just wanted to say that patients are assaulted by staff but it is rare.

@woooooooo9061 I don't know too many people who fake being psychotic. But I believe it could happen. Most people I know don't like being hospitalized. Especially if they are psychotic. Now if they are trying to escape jail or prison that would make more sense.

@woooooooo9061 If your hospital really went 13 years without any staff on client violence I am surprised. I spent 3 or 4 years in mental hospitals. Staff assaulting clients was rare but did happen. Adolescent units were especially violent. Once again mostly clients assaulting staff. I would say 1% or less of violence was staff assaulting clients. That said, it happened once to me for going outside without permission. I have never assaulted a staff member. It was unwarranted.

@woooooooo9061 Only 1 in 20 psych patients are the real deal? What makes a psych patient the real deal in your opinion?

@woooooooo9061 Which country do you live in? No one where I live will be in a short term unit for years. They also don't care if someone hurts themselves if they keep doing it. I saw a homeless man in the ER with his wrist sewn up after a suicide attempt. They said he tried suicide too often and that they wouldn't admit him to the psych ward. They called a staff member from a homeless shelter to come pick the man up.
