  2. ​ @VertigoMushrooms Autism can appear like narcissism but the motivations are different. I am autistic. I like bright colors. When I see the colors I like I want to wear them. I am about average in how much attention I like. I have never been diagnosed with narcissism despite having been seen by psychiatrists. So a while a narcissist might wear bright colors for attention an autistic person might just like bright colors a lot and be clueless that other people are reacting negatively. A few autistic people also have narcissism but most autistic people don't have it.

  5. That is really nice you want to get in touch with your friend. I have serious mental health issues and was put into psychiatric hospitals starting in highschool. I lost touch with several friends but I was/am embarrassed to get in touch with them because of my problems and lack of accomplishments in life.

  6. She is autistic. Autistic people often come across as unempathetic whether they feel empathy or not. Being an empath is not a diagnosis. The supposed traits of being an empath overlap a lot with some of the traits of autism. So it is not too surprising if autistic people think that they are empaths when they see the "traits". Personally I am autistic and I don't agree with calling yourself an empath whether you are autistic or not. It seems a bit egotistical and like pop psychology.

  7. ​Maybe, but autism can seem like narcissism when people don't understand why we act a certain way. Autistic behaviors can sometimes look narcissistic but often the motivation behind the behavior is different. While a few autistic people are also narcissists most autistic people aren't. If you aren't autistic you often have a hard time understanding autistic people just like we have a hard time understanding you. It is called the double empathy problem.

  8. ​ @nadiainthesky  Autistic people for a long time were thought NOT to have empathy because they often don't react to people in the usual way. Recent research is finding that this is generally not true. Autistic people can feel empathy very strongly if they understand that someone is hurting. But they have a hard time reading emotions so they often can't tell if someone is hurting if the signs are subtle. If the signs aren't subtle they can feel overwhelmed by the other person's emotions and not know how to act. This makes autistic people seem not to have empathy. But many autistic people do have it they just don't know how to show it. I am autistic and if someone is very upset then I will start feeling pretty upset as well. This can actually not be helpful to myself or the other person if I feel too overwhelmed to help effectively.

  9.  @bodigames  More white people are killed by the police overall because there are more white people in the USA. BUT more black people are killed by the police per capita. That means you have a greater chance of being killed by police as a black individual in the USA.

  10. An Empath is not a diagnosis. Anyone can take a test for it. The traits listed to be a supposed Empath overlap with some of the traits of autism so it is not surprising that some autistic people would think that they are empaths. The whole idea of an empath seems like pop psychology to me.

  11.  @GamingPIPI  With most neurotypicals how you word something is everything. If you are saying something critical you have to soften the blow. Say things as nicely and diplomatically as possible. Otherwise you will be seen as rude.

  15. When I was young my parents would take me to hot springs in the mountains. Most people were completely undressed. It was not upsetting and just seemed normal. I personally don't like showing my body but it never hurt me to see other people unclothed.

  16. She can intellectually understand feelings but not truly feel them strongly herself. It must be strange knowing that you are missing out on so much of the human experience. But how much does it bother her?

  17. ​ I am autistic and for most of my life people told me that I was annoying. I try not to be but apparently I still am, though not as much as when I was younger. I don't really understand how people see me unless they explicitly explain it to me. So this means I have trouble knowing exactly how to be less annoying.

  40. @BENJAMIN VERHAAREN Gay people a long time ago hid being gay so they wouldn't get killed. They just pretended to be straight usually. I met a guy from Iran, he says there are no gay people in his county. Well, if you get the death penalty for being gay no one will admit to being gay. Doesn't mean there are no gay people in Iran, they are just hiding. In the west people don't have to hide anymore.

  41.  @camisswag  I never said no sexually or physically abused people become gay. I know a lot of abused people (including myself) and most of them are not gay. Some of them are but it is a minority.

I heard a theory that high levels of testosterone or estrogen in the womb at a certain stage in pregnancy could cause someone to be gay.I don't know if this is true but that is what they told us in Psychology 105 in college in the 1990's. Not that it matters. All I am saying is being gay could be caused by something that you are born with that is not genetic.
