Some US businesses (agriculture, construction, slaughter houses, some restaurants etc.) use a lot of cheap immigrant labor. They have an economic interest and get support from the right. Both sides are the reason for immigration in my opinion.

  2. Lots of immigrants take English classes in my city in the USA. I have met plenty of immigrants who speak English (and some who don't).
