@phoenix. Most the kids I was in treatment with were abused. Often by the parents but not always. I blamed a lot of the parents but not all of them.

@SDALLE99 Most the kids I was in treatment with were abused a lot. Abuse might toughen you up in some ways but it weakens you in other ways.

@margareeta1369 My parents and I ate a strict health food diet and I ran cross country and track. I still ended up in long term psychiatric facilities as a teenager. Diet and exercise should definitely be tried first but some people need more help.

I can relate. As a teen I thought living in the mental hospital was heaven compared to living with my abusive parents. Later I found out that a group home was much better and a lot cheaper than the hospital.

She also said the doctor didn't mention it as an option.

@theflamingpotato1939 America is a nice place if you don't get sick.

@SurrealisticSlumbers My parents had to pay money for my 30 day stay. They had no healthcare but a solid middle class income. I would feel guilty but since I was abused by them I don't feel guilty. My father even abuses babies. I refuse to feel guilty if it was their fault I was in there. Maybe some teens are narcissists. Most the kids I was in the hospital with were abused.

@ohsweatbret State run facilities are not always badly run. I was in the State Hospital and a fancy privet mental hospital as a teenager. The State Hospital was much better. The grounds and the food were nice at the other place but it was horrible and got shut down by the government. Privet is not always better. That place was a greedy hell hole that cost more than twice what the State Hospital did. I was glad they closed it.

@JenniferDaniels909 Girl Interrupted and One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest are stories that happened in the 1960's or so. Mental health care has changed a lot in the 60 years since then. Lobotomies are illegal. People usually do not stay in mental hospitals very long now. More mentally ill people are in prison than in psychiatric hospitals now. Watch those movies if you want to see how things used to be. They are not like that now.

I did badly summer or school year. There are just more adults to ask for help during the school year.

I would say suicide crises line if they asked me who I'd talk to.

@otterguyty You usually don't get a record when the police come to get you for mental health reasons... Unless you commit a crime.

@Autistic_Pixel Medicaid is a good deal because you won't go bankrupt with medical bills. But you won't be living the high life.

@sylfix2680 Most psych meds aren't addictive. Learn which ones are and refuse them if you are concerned.

Ubiquitous Philanthropist Yep the KKK started out as Democrat and currently is mostly Republican.

@alexharper7645 I have done research. The South voted for Democrats before and after the Civil War, and during Jim Crow laws. Then Lyndon B. Johnson passed the Civil Rights Act. This angered the South. They switched to voting Republican. Look at maps of who the South voted for from the 1950's to the 1980's. You will see a huge switch.

@shonuff2382 He was in jail for a while already for stealing a gun.

@themanwithnonamecalledwyat7575 Nah, health care for people like my boyfriend is WAY better since Obama Care. He used to have no health insurance because he was self employed and had too many preexisting conditions to afford insurance. Now he can get healthcare.

@themanwithnonamecalledwyat7575 Sorry your healthcare tripled. Mine stayed the same.

@orangeworm Depression usually goes away but often comes back (in my experience).

@grigoreturcan1368 Chris was not an only child. He had two little sisters I saw at the table...
