  2.  @bostonrailfan2427  With the exception of Oceania most islands are considered part of the continent they are near even if they are on a separate tectonic plate.

  3.  @bostonrailfan2427  North America includes Central America. The bigger Islands are closer to Florida, Mexico and Central America. It is true that some islands are closer to South America.
