I never heard about the lynching of Italians in New Orleans or elsewhere. That is awful but thanks for teaching me what really happened. Do Southern Italians consider themselves white now? I heard it depends which part of the country you are from.

@GentlecolonCare Hutus and Tutsis are done fighting. Doesn't excuse anyone European for what we did. If my neighbor is a murderer does that excuse me of my murder? No.

@findingbeautyinthepain8965 Thanks for explaining. It does sound confusing.

@HeyThreshold Good for you but some other people from Italy in this comment section disagree.

@romanicempirium3083 Yes, I heard that the Spanish came up with the term blue blood. The people didn't have to be pure, just pale enough to see the blue veins on their arms. Some people want to stay pure. Some people want to mix. This has been since the beginning of time. Mixing different types of genes is often a good thing. Even humans and other types like Neanderthals mixed.

@themadlad8540 I hadn't heard that. I thought it was Chicago.

@HeyThreshold Also, just to clarify: I believe you that Italians are not as obsessed with color as people in the USA. Just that some people in Italy said they were judged for being darker.

@HeyThreshold If this was a shorter thread then I would search it but at 268 comments I will not do that. You are welcome to.

@ravensantos4189 It is interesting how similar people identify themselves differently.

@joebiggs4387 That would be great if people would actually treat each other as equals.

@rroadmap There are still slaves in the USA. Just not legal slaves. I read an article about it in National Geographic. Some of the people who pick oranges in the USA are slaves. Some of the popsicle cart pushers are slaves. There are sex workers who are slaves.

@RaviKumar-cl6iy Americans are Americans. Under the heading of Americans are subcategories.

@shockcat5988 What little argument strategy? I made a lot of comments on this video. Most of them months ago.
